Only found your thread today and have been reading it on and off all day (v bored at work!) and am distressed now have come to an end!! It's like stopping a book in the middle of a story with all these unanswered questions: Will chocoholic manage to not spend too much at Eurodisney? Will OH's car keep breaking down? Will stuff for ebay ever run out? Will the Year 6 children lead chocoholic to an early grave? Will chocoholic and family find somewhere to rent before the house sells? And finally - will the debt be paid before the baby comes? :rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl:What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!
DFD - WAS: a while ago
NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
Thanks to the people who posted. It makes my day when people take the time to read / post on the thread.
xela_17, your post made me laugh out loud!! DD thinks I'm crazy (well, she's half right!). If it was a book I can only hope it has a happy ending!
Probable answers to your questions are: doubt it, probably, it more or less has, I would imagine so, no I think my poor Mum will get us for a week or three, oooohhh the last question's the biggie - I think it might be a race that runs neck and neck!!
Will these be the true answers?0 -

I just found your thread and I am seriously impressed! The speed with which you have reduced your debt! :j - I was owed £10,000 by my late sister (she paid her mortgage arrears with my CC!!!!!!!!!!!), she died 3 years ago and I got £6,000 back from the estate , still I managed to clear the other £4,000 + interest payments and changed my CC for a Mastercard with a reduced credit limit on it (seeing as her daughter tried to do something similar in order to buy some stuff on-line and I found out and my parents a) paid me back and b) called the police to give her a talking to about theft!!!!!!!)
Ouch! What is it they say about "You can choose your friends but You can't choose your family"?0 -

Oooh yes - shall we just say she did NOT come and stay at my parents for a while (especially as she also stole some wine/beer/whisky from both my parents and from the parents of a friend of hers!) - oh and her Dad said "what's the problem, she will grow out of it, after all she has just lost her mother" - um NO she lost her mother 3 years ago and she is getting worse by playing the sympathy card
Sorry turned into a rant! But after my sister I have just managed to build my credit rating back up!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Thanks for the advice about Euro Disney - someone else had mentioned that it was best to go to Paris first, so we'll maybe try and do that in a couple of years. This year though, it will be a caravan in Wales with The Sun £38 holidays in true DFW style!!!0

I am fine thanks hypno, though I should be getting on instead of lurking here doing nothing!
Didn't get the euros yesterday - I stupidly forgot about the cashpoint withdrawal limit (as I don't often take that much out), asked the woman in the post office if I could pay half cash and half by debit card but she said I needed my passport or driving licence to buy euros with a debit card. As I don't arry my passport or driving licence (it's still a paper copy) I will have to go back today.
Also need to drop house key at estate agents as they phoned yesterday and said they think surveyor will be out this week - typical!
And need to drop OH's car into the garage to be MOT'd some time this week. Here's praying it doesn't cost too much! He's feeling a bit guilty because his brother often borrows his car at weekends. However, when he knew we were away he asked if he could borrow it all week but OH had already arranged with his friend to leave it for MOT. So OH's brother asked if he could borrow my car instead and OH said no (based on the fact that the car is less than two years old, we keep it really nice, OH's family eat and smoke in the car when they borrow it and he wouldn't be insured to drive it anyway). OH did say however if he wanted to collect his car after the MOT he could but his brother said "It doesn't matter, I'll just tell the kids they won't be able to go away for a few days this year"
Now, OH is feeling really guilty! I am feeling less guilty, mainly because as anyone who has read the first page of my diary knows, we were really in the mess we were in through not being able to say no to family. My viewpoint is that he had the option to pick up the other car, if he doesn't want to it's him depriving the kids of their trip away, not us -am I being selfish?0 -
No not being selfish at all - why should you feel pressured to give your new car to them only to come back smelling of smoke etc?
And the other car needs an MOT - not a lot you can do about that now is there. You have given him the option of collecting it and using it.
 to B-I-L making you all feel guilty. Bah!

Begger that! He could either pick it up AFTER the MOT (hmm that is always assuming that no work needs doing on it!) - or (and this he would object to!) pay for a flipping hire car! :rotfl:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Grr...OH has agreed to drive his brother to wherever they are going tomorrow, which means he will be out driving 7 hours...AND apparently will have to pick him up on Friday, meaning he'll have to do the journey again. And he can't see why I'm annoyed that it's going to take up two days of his week off - he hardly gets any holiday time to start with. And I'm being made to feel as if I'm being unreasonable and it's obviously "my hormones playing up".
