£25 gone in the bank today from Cashback rewards and the cheque from freefivers cleared so paid the money straight off my Egg card so that when they take the full amount by direct debit next month it is not so much out of my pay (I know it's the same difference as leaving it in my bank account and just paying it all off together but just prefer to pay it as I get it.)

Only money still waiting for now is Home of Research - anyone use them? Are they good payers as this is the first time I have requested payment? It says on their website that you get the money the month after you cash in - their example is something like if you request money on the 1st July or 31st July it will all be paid out in August. I cashed in on the 2nd July (typical!) so it feels like I have been waiting forever!

Off to change money into euros today ready for Monday. Also still need a few bits and pieces. DD asked if I would be able to buy her a sudoku book and gave me £1.15 from her money box to do so - knowing her that will be the exact price as both kids seem to have a better grasp of money than I have (even if DD needs to spend all her money when she gets it - slightly worrying for the future!! Though she does love watching spendaholics and can usually give just as good, or better advice than the presenters on there)

DS is coming with me. (DD going to a friend's house for the day) He wants to buy a new mobile phone with his birthday money as his has just about given up the ghost - it won't even turn on. Any mobile phone experts have any ideas what we can do with it now - I know there are places that recycle them -do they have to be working?

And scary news - the trailer was stolen from OH's lorry during the night. He is a bit annoyed as he was asleep and thinks he should have woken and stopped it happening. My thinking is that about 3 months ago a driver from his firm was beaten senseless during the same kind of robbery and that, or worse!, could have happened to OH - better for him to have slept through it! The trailer was full of beer and cider - someone is going to be very drunk!

Your bit about OH trailer hit a chord - my OH used to drive long distance, and there were a number of instances where trailers were emptied/stolen. I agree with you - better he stayed asleep!

Re the mobile phone - I think to be recycled they need to be working, but I sold DS's mobile that I had killed in the washing machine on ebay - got a reasonable amount for it too!!

  • Hi, I've only just found your thread and you are an inspiration - paying all that debt off in such a short time. I too am off to get Euros today - taking family to Eurodisney, booked before lightbulb came on!! :o Although we did use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for most of it. Now I am frantically hoping we can eat and not add too much to our enormous debts.
    Enjoy yourself!!

    ***Phew - finally!***

I've had a couple of quick looks at your thread since you posted on mine, but there was so much to read and so little time! Finally managed to get to the end, having plonked child in front of TV for the past hour so I could get peace - bad mother.

Great that all's going well with the pregnancy so far - what was your due date again? I think you're about 2-3 months ahead of me if I remember right.

Also, I'd seen your signature and thought you were doing really well to clear the debt, but actually seeing houw you've been doing it is amazing - it shows that all the little amounts do add up. Well done - you'll be debt-free in no time at all!

Enjoy EuroDisney, and let us know if it's any good! We've said that when we pay all our debt off we'll go to one of the Disneylands, although that won't be this year (or next, or next...!)

Have a fab holiday - you definitely deserve it!

Are you going there next week? Maybe we will see you there! We should have some sort of secret DFW badge so that we could recognise fellow DFW's!! We will be the ones surriptiously (sp?) sneaking lunch out of our rucksacks!

Aww, bless! Now I feel guilty about stealing an hour of your child's time. Hope there was something good on tv!

My due date by my dates is 30th Jan and by the scan is 27th Jan so not too far out. At the moment I'm not wishing the pregnancy away - I quite like being pregnant, though be sure to remind me of that in a few months time when I'm moaning!!

Also, I'd seen your signature and thought you were doing really well to clear the debt, but actually seeing houw you've been doing it is amazing - it shows that all the little amounts do add up. Well done - you'll be debt-free in no time at all!

I hope so, though we have slipped a little lately. I think once I got the DFW "bug" I got a little obsessive. I think my poor OH thinks all I talk about is money...or lack of it!

I think you would definitely enjoy it but I would advise going to Paris before you go anywhere else, just for a taster! The Paris one is great but doesn't seem as good once you have been to USA ones - just little things like customer service and queueing to meet characters (In the US they have nice orderly queues - in France it was a free-for-all-who-can-push-each-other-out-of-the-way-first! Not nice!

Have a fab holiday - you definitely deserve it!

    Thank you!!
  • Just received my free Kipper baby memories book from the book people. It was only supposed to be £1.99 anyway but had some points and a code for free delivery so ended up paying £0! My kind of shopping. Mind you, the box was huge for just one item -not very ecologically friendly!

So that puts my baby stuff at
    • moses baskets
    • white babygros and vests
    • changing bag
    • memory book
Total paid so far - £0!

    Wow Chocaholic!!!!!!!!!

I just found your thread and I am seriously impressed! The speed with which you have reduced your debt! :j - I was owed £10,000 by my late sister (she paid her mortgage arrears with my CC!!!!!!!!!!!), she died 3 years ago and I got £6,000 back from the estate , still I managed to clear the other £4,000 + interest payments and changed my CC for a Mastercard with a reduced credit limit on it (seeing as her daughter tried to do something similar in order to buy some stuff on-line and I found out and my parents a) paid me back and b) called the police to give her a talking to about theft!!!!!!!)

I hope your pregnancy keeps going well as I suffered two miscarriages so far this year (not even trying to get preggers!) :rotfl:
