It is DS's 13th birthday today. He has yet to get up so I haven't found out whether he went to bed a pleasant, easy going child last night and woke up as a moody, grunting teenager saying that everything "isn't fair!" similar to Harry Enfield's Kevin!

He will be having a bit of a DFW birthday. His present is a Nintendo Wii game that I bought using HMV vouchers saved from surveys and his "party" is a trip to the cinema with three of his friends tomorrow using Orange Wednesday (which I have never tried before so not 100% sure what to do!!)

DD is very impressed that he shares his birthday with Harry potter and JK Rowling (though she is a bit addicted at the moment - she is rereading all of the books and has watched the first 3 DVD's over the last week. She is also writing her own story about Harry's daughter - "Lily Potter and the Way Out". It's actually quite good for an 8 year old and captures JKR's style of writing exactly but I fear there may be copyright issues somewhere along the line ;) )

Happy Birthday DS!! My DD was 13 last month and Seaxwyns twins were 13 last week I think so lots of us trying to adapt to new behaviour patterns!!

Re orange wednesdays, have you registered one of the mobile phones yet? If not, go to the Orange website and on the left hand side there should be a panel which includes "orange wednesdays". you then have to register a mobile phone number with them, do a test text I think and then each time you want to use the orange wednesday you just text "Film" to 80241 or something similar and lo and behold you get a text ticket, so you just show the text message at the box office!

My two love Orange Wednesdays - off to the simpsons movie tomorrow (them not me!).

I hope DS has a good birthday, and that you manage to stay sane!!

I registered my phone yesterday (don't have orange phone but do have orange broadband) and got a message back to say that it worked - just wasn't sure what you did after texting FILM to whatever number it is!

The boys are off to see the Simpsons too. I am driving them there, then will have a wander round the shops as have a voucher for a free nappy bag from Boots that I will try to pick up, then will drive them home again.

Once you text FILM to the number, they just text the ticket back. Dead easy and a very useful thing to have in the summer hols!

  • Happy birthday ds! My youngest is 15 on Saturday and we still like him :D .

He wants to go to karate camp a day early and celebrate with his mates who are coming from all over the place so that’ll be good. Free accommodation for the extra night and they get a day to 'recover' I know they were joking....

What’s the orange film offer? We used to be with them but reception wasn’t great where we live so we change to Vodafone. We were thrilled when we found we could get a signal in ds’ room – til the topup requests came in cos they were texting all night – soon put a stop to that, lol!

    How’s the house-hunting / selling going?

Hypno could probably explain it better then me, but it's basically a two for one at the cinema if you're an orange customer.

Not much happening with the house; we sent our forms off to solicitor but haven't heard anything. We did bump into buyer in the street on Monday and she said everything is going ok. She then said would it be ok for her to pop up to show the house to her boyfriend as he works away and hasn't seen it and they are buying it together...hope he likes it!!!
  • fingers crossed then - he must trust her judgement though if she's already decided to buy it,eh?

Well, so much for Orange Wednesdays. I texted FILM to wherever it had to go and waited...and waited...and waited...

...and still waiting so ended up paying for tickets at full price, plus conned into paying a fortune for popcorn and drinks. Still DS will only turn 13 once so will think happy thoughts!

Was very naughty and went shopping while kids were at cinema. I, ahem, needed some new maternity clothes. Was very pleased with my bargains though

    I got

A long sleeved red top in Mothercare - reduced to £3, then with an extra 20% off - so £2.40

A pair of cropped jeans and a floaty vest top thing in Dorothy perkins - Buy one, Get one free so £10 in total

2 vests and three nice tops (nice enough for work) from primark, not actually maternity but same style - £30 altogether.

So all in all £42.40 for 8 items, can't be bad! And at least now I have something to wear other than my jogging bottoms that I practically live in! I'm having the problem that my normal clothes are too tight but the maternity trousers I got from ebay are all still to large, plus I'm only 5'1 so need to find clothes that are petite and maternity - nightmare!

Also picked up my free changing bag from Boots parenting club. Had to buy a pack of Pampers nappies, which were only £2.99 and got quite a nice bag with a changing mat in a zip up holder and a little botte of baby wash. I think when I had DS and DD I would have been too embarrassed to use a free Boots bag, now I just think Who cares? It was free!! How times change! If I could have thought like this years ago I might have been rich by now!

Hiya! Well done on the maternity wear bargains - the only place I found that did maternity trousers in 'short' length was Dorothy Perkins. Weirdly, I wear standard length in their normal (non-maternity) range, but needed the short ones in the maternity range. My Mum came in quite useful though and shortened a couple of pairs for me. :T

I have found one pair of work trousers at Mothercare that were "Short" length (You know, petite sounds so much nicer than short!!). DP didn't have any which was why I bought cropped jeans. Dorothy Perkins online does have a choice of sizes though.
