Go wild, book yourself a round the world cruise! :rotfl::rotfl:
Well, it'll pay for the bus fare to the ferry portI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
Hi - thanks for answering and good to hear from a current Santander employee. I want the card for going abroad so guess a Zero is the best to go for? I have been running my in credit preferred account spotlessly since opened - salary of well over a £1000 in every month and never overdrawn. Unfortunately got into a spot of bother 3 years ago so some adverse showing at that time (2007). But since late 2007 everything on my credit file showing 0's, no late payments etc etc. I was surprised Santander opened the account for me to be honest, i was expecting a knock back. I'd previously been using a co op cashminder (again never overdrawn) but wanted a full current account again with proper debit card instead of one masquerading as an electron which was what i had with cashminder. . In your opinion, do you think it's a bit early for me to apply for the Zero (in view of the adverse from 3 year's ago) or should I wait a bit longer. Yr advice is much appreciated.
Going to try and steer clear of giving any advice. In my opinion though you have been accepted for a credit product (the PICR) so one can assume your credit rating isnt that bad. If you were to apply i would be surprised if it is rejected, as to the credit limit however cant give any indication on that at all.
Be aware that if a credit card is rejected and you feel it should be accepted you can appeal the decision. Maybe appeal it based on flawless account managemet since January or something along those lines0 -
Whoah, I quite literally mean it amuses me because I agree with a lot of it.
I'm a phone monkey. You want help, I'll help you - I feel bad for all of you with difficulty but we're limited to Santander policy which unfortunately, being the lowest in this place, we don't have a say over.
For the record, I'm in sales.
Also, we're entitled to a break... believe it or not.0 -
doedeer - tell your bosses I want my overtime payments from 7 years ago please  the payments that were ADMITTED i was owed by Abbey's head office but your lot just couldnt be bothered to pay me.
Oh yes, and as well please tell them that I'm still waiting for the false information on my credit file that the FOS ordered A&L to remove nearly a YEAR ago to be removed.
Then maybe I can get myself an account with a half-decent bank...
Ooh, I have my own troubles with pay roll.
&tbh, the last point should be taken further by yourself if it's not happened.0 -

I've got a friend who works in that big call centre in Sheffield dealing with customers in arrears on loans etc.
He says one perk is not having to bank with them.0 -

Agreed, although at least if something did go wrong we can fix it ourselves. It's a good job, for (whether we agree or not) a big, well-respected company - and it looks good on paper. Does a lot need changed? Of course, but we aren't alone.0 -

Hmm, doedeers post does perhaps not give the best outlook. I can appreciate doedeers statement on some levels as some of the things you read on here are plain and simple lies about Santander/A&L. However i am on this site 1. to further my own financial situation and 2. to assist any Santander/ A&L customers i can while on the way.
As an A&L member of staff I have only recently moved onto the Santander model. If any of you bank with A&L, spare a thought for us. Our paper load has roughly tripled since Santander took over. In terms of training if i was to move to another bank i would have a training period etc before serving customers. With this sort of takeover that is impossible. At A&L we have to keep branches open to serve customers while learning an entirely new way of doing things.
Whatever company you work for, imagine going for a job with the opposition and instead of an induction you get some rough paper guides and told to get on with it. With this type of takeover thats what happens. The only other option would be to close branches for roughly 5 weeks ( estimate taken from the time a new start has to pick things up) and the re-open again ready to go. Its just not feasible.
If anyone has any questions or problems about SAntander/A&L i will give as much info as im able. Not advice as over this medium thats not possible but facts etc.
*Quick edit to say i used to work with HSBC to so can give what i can on that front to*
Hi, I have the same problem with Santander/Abbey. I have two accounts with a total of almost £2000 plus accrued interest. I have the passbooks and all my old passbooks and statements, Santander refused to consider my case as they had been 'dormant' for over 15 years
I then took my case to the Ombudsman, who decided to uphold Santander's argument that I had 'closed' the accounts, I had never received and correspondence from them concerning my two accounts and they had no proof that my accounts were closed just that they couldn't find any 'record' therefore they'd been closed.
I should also point out that I've been a customer of Abbey/Santander for over 30 years and they didn't even have my correct date of birth! I had corrected this on one account but my cheque account, which was older, was completely wrong.
I am now trying to decide where to go for help as I live in France so finding a lawyer is not going to be easy.0
