If Santander Is SO Bad...

It is all to do with the linked PlusSaver account, and again poor communication between Santander and their staff at branch level.
Thanks for the tip, ses6jwg!:A0 -
My spouse and myself are those who have recently applied for Santander current accounts. But hey, our intention is just to grab the £100 account opening incentive for each account and the opportunity to get £125 interest for one year on a balance of £2500. Once thats done, we fully intend to close down our accounts with Santander.
We do however also hold ISA accounts with Santander and thats again because they were giving a market beating 3.5% min interest earlier this year. Once the 12 months are over, we will get these ISAs transferred over to another bank for sure (unless Santander again gives a good interest rate offer).0 -
good, perhaps you can answer my question. I've had an account with Santander since January - how long do you advise i wait til applying for the Santander zero credit card and is it best to apply for that one or the other Santander credit card on offer? Is it advisable to wait until it's showing as 'offered' on my internet banking or just apply now?
ps - I am one of those rarities on this forum apparently - v happy with Santander, not experienced any problems!
There isnt a specific length of time needed to wait before applying. This app will be credit scored and your acceptance will be based on that. Ofcourse if you havent managed your account well in the last few months that can go against you.
In regards to which CC, what do you want to use it for? Going abroad then Zero. Purchases or balance transfer then normal Santander card.0 -
I HAD friends that worked for A & L before they were bought by Santander, all but 1 of them are now claiming JSA as they closed their A & L branch down due to 'cutbacks' and they are struggling to find alternative employment. Good to see the friendly, caring face of Santander strikes again!
;) Better to say nothing and look a fool than to speak and remove all doubt

Really, which branches?0 -
I cannot stand alliance and leicester and i could not stand abbey. i still have a 1yr and 3 months left on my fixed mortgage with a and l and im trying to pay off my 1000 pound overdraft with them too. The branches are useless the staff are useless and i wait all day for them to answer the phone. santander has not improved any of this. i think they are a big failure, i can now see beyond the decent interest rates etc etc customer service is paramount.Mortgage OP hopes for 2012 £2000
OP made this year £300.00
£113,746.51 Outstanding

I work for Santander.
In fact, I am working as we speak.
These forums amuse me. :rotfl:
After spending nearly 4 weeks trying to open a business account with Santander you post just about confirms to me that Santander dont give a toss !
I have been fobbed off, lied too, paper work lost more times than my 8yr old loses his homework... i have been promised call backs on at least 8 occassions and no-one has bothered to ring me.
There is nothing remotely funny about Santanders lack of customer service !0
