Off to get the sticky.
Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Thurs 12th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.

Morning all
I'm up at silly o'clock, we have problems with the plumbing!
Still, hubby will be getting up for his breakfast soon & then I'll drop him off at the station, I shall then spend the day catching up on paperwork & filing, what an exciting life I lead.
I made a sock monkey yesterday and a sock pig, pics on my blog, BB, don't worry about not having a sewing machine, mine didn't like sewing socks so I did most of it by hand & found it easier, good luck with the peace talks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow,

I'm up with the larks this morning as i couldn't get back to sleep after waking up for the bathroom - ah the joys of being pregnant!:o

Hester, could you post a link to your bog? I'd love to have a look at your sewing projects.:)

I've got quite a busy day ahead - midwife appointment in the morning, then meeting a couple of friends from NCT classes at the local baby cafe, then meeting another friend and her brood for lunch (pizza hut buffet - yummy!:)). I'll probably need an afternoon nap, then the plan is to go to the pub with OH and a friend tonight, but I'm not sure I'll make it!

I'm hoping that the midwife appt goes well - the last one a couple of weeks ago caused some worries because my bump was suddenly measuring very big and the MW also though the baby might be breech. :( However a scan a couple of days later showed that the baby was head down and the fluid levels were normal, and if anything, she was measuring a bit small. So, we shall see what they have to say today. I've got another growth scan on monday to see how the measurements are looking, and hopefully, if everything is normal, i can go back to midwife led care (instead of consultant led care). That means that I'll be able to have our baby in the midwife led birth centre (v nice, homely) instead of the consultant led unit (nice, but pretty frantic and much more 'medical').

Not much OSness going on today I'm afraid. I've asked hubby to hoover the house and mow the front lawn, but i think those jobs will have to wait until the weekend.

I probably won't want much tea after the delights of pizza hut at lunchtime, and there's some HM mince and veg in gravy for OH's tea out of the freezer. He'll probably make some mash and veg or stick some chips in the oven to go with it.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Ali xx

    Hya Hester and all,
    Nice bright morning so far.
Excavated bm yesterday and made dried tomato bread - scrummy. Will experiment with oven drying garden tomatoes and using those instead.
Need to go to bank and organise finances (or lack of them.)
Need to strip beds, so hope the forcast rain doesn't reach here.
Shall go and look at sock monkeys later - must sort hw and finish making adjustments to blouse.
Don't know what we're eating today. DD2 at work later. Maybe tuna salad for lunch and leftovers omelette later -she doesn't like omelette.
OK have a good day all, cheers
ETA Hope all goes well at midwife appt. falady and you get mw-led care.

I don't think I'm allowed to post a link to my blog, but if you click on my user name above the pic, you get a drop down menu, from there click on 'visit Hardup Hesters Home Page' & it should take you there, good luck with the Midwife visit.

    Morning All!

Well we got back about an hour ago, the WM is on, DH is in bed, he has a meeting in Edinburgh at 10.15am, and the boys have just gone up too. I am pottering about, reacquainting myself with my wee house. You lot have had a lot to say for yourselves whilst I was away! I think I've read all the dailies now, and I wanted to welcome all the newbies and send hugs where due, especially to BB.

We had a fabulous time, even though I somehow managed to take Mr Grumpy with me and leave my lovely husband at home. How do you get round the thing about not liking how the other parent speaks to the children? He doesn't know how to ignore the bad behaviour at all, which ends up with everyone being wound up, my boys are not bad boys at all, but like all children (and don't forget DS1 has Asperger's ) they get a little wound up and appear to not listen. DH cannot handle this and gets so annoyed at them, then gives it the whole "do you let thm away with murder when I'm not here?" Excuse me, they behave fantastically well when you aren't here because they aren't vying for your attention, and by giving them a hard time you are reinforcing the bad behaviour!! Aargh! Having said that, we did have a good time, and I do love him, I'll just need to slap him harder when he's sleeping and turn up the volume on the indoctrination tape! "You will be calm, you will be serene, you will praise the children when good, you will ignore all the naughty stuf!" :rotfl:

The weather was fabulous on Monday I got sunburn :o (that looks quite like the colour of my face actually!) on Tuesday the rain we brought with us got taken out of the case, and my fingers were wrinkly just from walking around, so we dod all the wet rides, as we couldn't get any wetter, although my white linen trousers weren't impressed;) and yesterday was hot in the morning and nice in the afternoon. We left four hours later than planned and couldn't bear to tear ourselves away. :)
Coco has also had a fabulous time. She ended up going to stay with my lovely sister's SIL, who doesn't work atm, she had been caring for her mother until she died recently, and my sister had suggested she would enjoy it and Coco would have company 24/7. Apparently they have fallen in love, but she's been warned the boys will be coming back for her today and she's not to pretend the dog has run away so she can keep her!:rotfl: I just hope she wants to come home!

\so enough of my tales, glad to be home, am exhausted and skint so OS will be the order of the day once again this afternoon once I waken!

    Have great days all!

Oops also meant to say to Lindy Loo, watch what you are doing, and go get it X rayed, I fell and fractured my coccyx on my back stairs in May and am still in a considerable amount of pain from it. Without it fracturing that type of pain can take six months to subside according to my physio, and you might end up with additional pain from walking and sitting akwardly to compensate for the pain which is what has happened to me. Please please be careful. X

    Morning all,
I must say coming back on here has really helped me stay motivated this week, DD is in a street dance workshop all week and there has been a lot of tooing and froing getting her there and picking her up ( I dont drive) But I have managed to stay Old Style and with my meal plan and a house work plan I have stayed on top of everything even my weekly budget. I am looking forward to a week off when they both go away though.
Today the sun is shining and the sky is blue but there is forcasts of showers, DS and I are going to risk it and go for a picnic in the park to try and burn off some of his excessive energy.Hester the sock monkey and pig are fab
WM finished and waiting to be unloaded, house looking respectable but I need to clean the bathroom today and top up the cake box this evening.
Hester the sock monkey and pig are fab, I had a go at these last year for stocking fillers they werequite fiddly though.
Falady I remember that part of pregnancy I hope you manage to get some rest today.
    Have a good day all.

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful here :T, looks like a lovely day, shame I am off to work. DD slept over at her friends last night and its far too quiet and tidy here :o, she also phoned to ask if she could sleep over at another friends tonight, I think there may be a small party going on, I will have to try and speak to the mother today, anyhoo looks like another night without her, roll on tomorrow.

Yesterday OH and I took little dog out for an evening walk, and I managed to pick 1/2 carrier full of the small plum things from a tree. OH was mortified, Its sort of between two houses, and I went and knocked to ask if I could pick some, but there was no one in, so I just went ahead, he was very embarassed :rotfl:, the tree is sooo full of fruit I did not even make a dent in it, so may sneak back and get some more :D, think I will make some jam or chutney on Monday.

Dinner tonight for the others is something with oven chips and peas, OH will have some ham, dd will have something veggie, and I shall have ham and egg salad.

Sainsbugs are also delivering, and I will need to put a wash on.

Jackie O I hope you have a great time on your holiday, you obviously adore your G-children, and they you, I love reading about your days xx

falady, good luck with the midwife xx

    Have good days all xx

Hello everyone, didnt manage to post yesterday but had not too a bad day, glad to see everyone is doing well. I have found this week is much easier being on here, it just keeps me focussed!

The sun is shining here just now but the cloud is building, hopefully it will stay away as I got up at the crack of dawn (well quarter to six anyway!!!) and the washing is ready to go out, the dishwashers finished, the ironing is done and the bread will be out of the breadmaker shortly! We have cheaper electric until 7 oclock or 8 oclock I am not sure so have been trying to get all electrical appliances on and finished as the price per unit is double during the day. I will be needing a wee nap before I go to work! I have just finished the tesco shop online and kept to a minimum. Will be going to DD1's for tea tonight so dont have to think that far ahead. Have decided to walk to work this morning again, every little helps as the price of diesel here is rocketing up so the use of the car is now at a minimum - wont do me any harm either!!!
Will have to have a look at your sock monkeys Hester - I am intrigued!!! Good luck to Falady at the midwife and Redruby I know how it feels to have an empty house - you miss them when they are away but it doesnt last long when they are back!!!!
    have a good day all,

    Suz

    Morning All

Settled back in yesterday and didn't go far - the kids were very well behaved and let DH sleep all day after being on nights. I managed to find some cycling trousers reduced last week which he has been wearing under his uniform for warmth.... we christened them Meggings....Man Leggings :rotfl: Have to say he looks rather fetching in them ;) but I had to promise not to put the picture I took of facebook! Just waiting on a call to go and pick him up when he finishes.

So my weekend at Mums went well and I do feel wuite relaxed but i'm sure that won't last long. DH missed me a lot which is always nice :D Today will involve a few audits I have to do and meal planning and some food shopping.

Not sure what we will be eating yet. Have a good day x

Today drop ironing off, take kids to library back home to move furniture.
DD1 came back from mums y'day totally shattered, why is it that when we were young it was bedtime, bedtime, bedtime but whenever DD1 stays she up till about 10.30-11 , Anyway she enjoyed herself.
Peace talks have come along way ...stating that it was not in our marraige vows for me to pick up dirty grundy's from the floor, put his dirty plates in DW and that i'm not expected to fetch carry etc etc. Anyway its worked :D, We are going out for drink (alone) on Saturday evening, then he is taking DD's to see Toy story on sunday ;).

Tea tongiht i'm not sure yet might be HM burgers and wedges

    Good Morning All

JackieG - I have the opposite, OH is much better when we are on holiday men eh (sorry N9eav :rotfl:)

Sunny here at the moment but I am in my office :( I really want to break the back of the office work today. Still seem to be recovering from the weekend! Can't do late nights and drinking like I used to!

DS is off later with MIL for a few days in their caravan so will be quite peaceful here (I will be out when she picks him up :o). Have a big Tesco shop coming this morning so at least we will have some food in the house.

Have loads of ironing todo and hope to start that later watching all the stuff I have Sky+'d.

Good news - I recevied an email this morning stating that I have got though the next stage of the application process for my hopefully (everything crossed) new job. Someone will be phoning me over the next 2 days & I have to get a CRB check done.:j

Better get going, Good Luck today Falady & Hester those bracelets are lovely.x
