I recommend you try https://www.londontown.com and click hotels. I use this site all the time and you can touch lucky on some real cracking deals for central London.
If you expect to stay central London for less than £50 pernight per room you will be dissapointed.
Holiday INN Berkley St Opp' The Ritz do a room for £90 whether single or double occupancy. For living in style good value.
Eat out through https://www.toptable.co.uk0 -

Thanks for the replies!
I have just sorted out some rooms at the cheapest hotel of all - my grandads!
I couldn't bear to spend my any of my shopping trip money on an overpriced hotel!

Try the International Student Hostel http://www.ish.org.uk/ Is on Great Portland St. You don't have to be a student to stay (well you didn't when I went and didn't ask for student ID).
Rooms vary from big dorms for 10 to double and 4 share rooms all with bunk beds- is fun when you've had few jars! Works out at £20 per person per night. Shared toilets/shower area and in a great central localtion. When you arrive, also get some vouchers to use in the breakfast room and an online voucher to use their internet ternimal if you so require. There's also a well stocked bar on site.
Is defo a cheap and cheerful- but who cares when you're out and about in the fab capital. The early kick-out was a bit of a pain but is worth travelling light (1 backpack) so doesn't matter when carrying your shopping home.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -
I wonder if anyone can help me please.
My boyfriend and i would like to take my seven year old boy to London for a weekend at the end of January for his birthday.
Neither of us has been to London before and we are unsure where to start :-/
We live in Manchester and we are thinking about going to London on a coach with National Express as we have no car.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received
Thanks

Go into the newsagents at Piccadilly Station and buy a copy of "Time Out" magazine.
Also try https://www.visitlondon.com
As for getting there, why not try virgin trains and see if you can get some of their "virgin value" fares or buy a family railcard. It'll probably work out cheaper than getting a coach - and it'll be much better for your child0 -
I think Time Out is horribly difficult to use.
Go on the London Eye.
Goto Covent Garden.
Visit Madame Tussards.
Take a river boat trip at dusk.
Walk over the wobbly bridge.
See a film at the Imax cinema in Waterloo.
Take an open top bus tour.0 -
If you haven't been to London before, you might be interested in some free things to do:-
Buckingham Palace, time your visit to coincide with the 'Changing of the Guard' at 11.30am on alternate days.
Horse Guards, the 'Changing of the Guard' at 11.00am.
Have a look at nearby 10 Downing Street, you'll have to peer through the iron gates at the top of the street though.
It's probably too short notice to arrange for your trip........but there is the 'Ceremony of the Keys' at the Tower of London - free. It is held every night as they lock up the tower. You need to write well in advance with dates of your visit.
You can also gain access to the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) and watch the proceedings from the Public Galleries. There may be a minimum age limit which will prevent your son from entry though.
If you plan a visit to Harrods (you can just window shop), make sure to see the food hall...........especially the fish display.
The staff in Fortnum & Masons are worth a peek, their uniforms are very formal.
I wouldn't pay for an expensive open top bus tour. Instead just buy an all day bus ticket (from the red ticket machines at bus stops) which allows you get on and off the buses all day long.........if you sit on the top deck, you'll see all the sights.
Enjoy your visit to London, just make sure you wear very comfortable footwear.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
Hi All,
Sorry this is another "where to stay in Londn" post but it's quite specific!
My sister and I want to take our mum to see a show in London, I have found a bargain for the show but have no idea where to stay ... I have been to London once and have no idea at all!
here's what we need:
- A room for fri 15th - sun 17th April (2 nights)
- parking (free preferably or pretty cheap ad ample spaces so we do get a space!)
- A room for 3 people, all adults as sis is 17 (triple/family/don't mind a single and a double).
- Easy access to a tube line / station so we can get in and out easily (espec in case it's raining!)
- Fairly cheap but still nice as it's an important b'day (i.e under £100 a night for the three of us... I'm a student!)
I know this is a lot to ask for but if anyone as any ideas I'll be forever grateful! Even if your idea doesnt match all the specs please suggest anyway and I can see if I can work around anything!
Thanks so much in advance!
EJSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
