Tissue in washing

I just let the clothes dry thoroughly (on the line or in the dryer) then give them a really good hard shake in the garden. They then go back for another wash before they're put away for wearing again.
Well, it works for me!0 -
Hey, great ideas guys! I'm always doing this and it infuriates the heck out of me!0
-
Doesn't this just infuriate you! As if we don't have enough to do without having all this hassle.
I go with the good shake outside, hang on the line to dry, another good shake and then the selotape method.
I usually put the washing machine on again and do a rinse with and empty machine to clear out any remaining bits of tissue. Not the most environmentally sound or moneysaving solution but it means the next load isn't all covered in tissue too.
Mind you, give me the odd tissue in the wash in preference to OH disgusting OS cotton hankies anyday.:eek:7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Totally with you on cotton hankies, full-time-mum. Disgusting things in so many ways, and it isn't even as though you can blow your nose properly after they have been used once. I am shuddering just remembering how horrible and awkward it was going to school with a cold in pre-tissue days :eek:0

So glad I read this thread. I often find tissues bits scattered through various clothes after washing.
All we need now is a smart detector to find the pesky tissues that hide before you put the wash on.

Bought the fluff balls earlier today (only went in to Lakeland to get yeast!) and will report back next time I have one of those "tissue" days.0

Hi amie,
Did you get your wash sorted? Probably too late for you but some of the replies on these older threads might help:
Tissue in washing
i washed fleeces with tissue in them
I'll merge all of these threads together tomorrow as it helps to keep all the suggestions in one thread.

Try putting the offending garments into the tumble dryer for about 10mins on a cold setting - NOT high.
GailMoney can't buy you happiness, but it sure helps!0 -
