  • I'm with the Coventry Building Society for savings and mortgage. They're the third largest building society yet small enough to be approachable, offer exceptional customer service, have very tight security on their online services and the call centre is in Coventry. There's a branch in my locality though I hardly use it, prefer to do everything online.
Over the years I've had mortgages and savings with lots of other institutions and the Coventry stands up very well in comparison.TBH, I cannot fault them.
They are everything a building society should be.
Maybe not for everyone, perhaps those with poor credit ratings should look elsewhere, but for very many people they quietly get on with the job and that's exactly how it should be.

The Coventry First account doesn't even have a cheque book. The faster payments are never there instantly , you have to wait 2-3 hours for them to show up in your account, and you can't send them out of your account. You can't set up transfers online, you have to call the call centre and get them to do it , and they have that ridiculous grid card for logging on to the internet banking which is a pain.

I wouldn't be heart broken if you didn't get accepted, the interest rate is not as good as it used to be.

But having said that, i've never had a problem of any kind with them. But then when the service is so basic I wouldn't expect there to be problems.:o

and I have Coventry First account, and if I can get one, then it can't be that hard !

Not true, i set up transfers all the time!
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

Same here. I don't have the Cov First Account though.
  • Just a thought, for security purposes, maybe it's not a good idea to show these screens ??
