Coventry First - credit file query

This is the letter I sent in 2006 appealing my application for a Coventry First Account....
"Dear Sir/Madam,
I write with reference to your letter of xxxxx declining my application with the society for a Coventry First hybrid savings account.
I am disappointed that you felt that I am unsuitable for the account via your electronic application process and scoring system.
I am puzzled as to why my application has been declined and would like to provide additional information to support my proposal and ask that my application is reconsidered.
Firstly, I enclose a personal cheque for £x should my appeal be successful which I request is deposited.
I also enclose my previous six months Nationwide Building Society current account statements to provide substantial proof of address. You will notice a continual credit balance despite holding an overdraft facility of £1,000. The Nationwide Flex Account is highly credit scored and members are often not allowed overdraft facilities unless they have been a customer for some period of time and the account has been impeccably maintained.
I have liquid assets in excess of £xx,xxx and Premium Bond holdings of £xx,xxx. I provide photocopied evidence of this.
My two-bedroom home is owned outright with 100% equity and is valued at circa £xxx, xxx. I provide a copy of the Land Registry certification showing sole title and no secured interests.
I would appreciate it if you could kindly return the documentation to me and hope that this further evidence will assist and influence any decision you can make in being able to offer me the Coventry First account at your society.
Your sincerely,"0 -
Good letter, and you do seem very satisfied with them!0

Good letter, and you do seem very satisfied with them!
Yes I am and thanks.
Let's put it another way. They don't offer £100 to try and get people to join or overdraft incentives. Those that offer those sweetners are the ones on here that get slated the most.
I don't think I have ever seen a complaint about the Cov on here.
I had one incident with them whereby a lost card replacement was cancelled as they thought it was also lost. Some kind of admin mix up. Turned out that it was a new trainee member of staff. We all have to learn though!
I could not use the card in the Post Office which was embarrassing as the replacement card was cancelled.
I wrote to complain (nice letter) and they replied with a VERY apologetic letter and credited my account with £50.
I can't complain at that - they just paid the money! I didn't even expect it.0 -

What's your Equifax credit file like?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Edit: They said I've passed their initial "assessment" (I.e. whether my profile suits what they want I suppose) and the account is open subject to "Final Checks".
I haven't seen a credit search appear on Equifax today so I guess the most important step is still pending completion... And none too soon. I hate Lloyds TSB with a passion and a vengeance right now!Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Lol I don't think Coventry are really the sort of bank to be looking at in that case! They've declined customers who have 100% flawless credit files and outright owned house before, until an appeal.
I think Natwest or HSBC would be better for youCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
