Coventry First - credit file query

Yes Bank of Cyprus also search Equifax exclusively but they aren't a british bank, and I don't have confidence in a bank that can't even design a website that lines up properly...
HSBC search Experian and equifax for new applicants - when I applied in February they left a footprint on both credit files as did they when a friend of mine applied in June.
Perhaps it's different for existing customers or they only search Equifax if someone's Experian file is unsatisfactory?
Ha well I don't think my savings balances are going to even represent a whole percentage point of yours! Possibly not the sort of customer Coventry want but I'm going to try my best nonetheless
Watch this space!
Regards to HSBC i'm telling you they never searched Equifax - i'll do a screen print and put a link up, but even for my first account opened in 2008 there was never a search performed with Equifax.
I also have a mate who works there and he said the same, but like you say maybe they change dependant on your needs? I did see something a couple of days ago when I was searching this forum from someone who explained the process in detail. S/He explained that they only do additional searches if something was found to be wrong, or have I misread it? I shall try and find it for you.
But nothing relates to HSBC on my Equifax other than reporting, not one solitary search and I have 4 current accounts and credit card from them!
LOL @ Bank of Cyprus remarks. Surely any bank that accepts you is better than Lloyds after your troubles of late? no? :rotfl:0 -
I was actually fascinated to know who they search and I just phoned and have been told that they only searched Equifax but this has been expanded and they can search ALL CRA's. They tend to search one to verify ID/Address on a "non" scored account such as a postal savings but more CRA's for a "scored" account such as the First, Mortgage, Loan and for a Credit Card when they introduce one.0

Well I don't know how it works with HSBC but yes indeed that was my impression, too - that they only check Equifax if they aren't happy with what they got from Experian.
But I'm not going to choose another bank on the basis "Well they've got to be better than Lloyds", if I did that I'd end up walking into a branch of Santander!
End of the day I'm not going to move to another bank just because they accept me. I'll apply somewhere half decent and if they say no I'll re-look at retrying next yearCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

And if it's like Carlsberg it will probably be the best credit card in the world :T:T
And I expect that you will have to have an account with them and had it for a while before being allowed it.
Ohhh the exclusiveness of the Cov!0 -

I would not take it out if they did that.
I hate MBNA -
I also hate HSBC but they are useful for paying into my Coventry First Account using their branch and Giro Slips.0 -

HSBC is great and also the clearing cycle bank for Coventry! i.e. the 40-63-01 sort code is a HSBC/Coventry one.
I hate MBNA too - americanised already.0
