!!!!!!.
Looks like a subprime current account for you like Natwest Step, Barclays Cash Card, or Co-Operative Cashminder for the time being.
I would be declined anywhere else because my Experian file is shot to pieces and Coventry are the only bank that search Equifax exclusively; (well, not the only one but I don't want to be with Bank of Cyprus...)Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

aren't there 3 british cra's? I know two of them, experian and equifax. whats the third?0

Call Credit. They are used by HSBC, Lloyds TSB, and Halifax / Bank of Scotland when they carry out money laundering / existing customer (limit increase) enquiries.
They are also used for full credit checks when applying for Clode Retail Finance through online retailers like SCAN.co.uk
Call Credit are not used for any other purposes, therefore they are regarded as "pointless" in so much as it is very unlikely that you'll ever have to worry about what's there when applying for new accountsCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

What you mean it didn't work? Did you not fill out the Giro slip in the branch and just hand over your cash/cheques?0 -

The Cov BS is not really for you then and it just wastes a footprint search trying if you have any sort of missed payment history.0 -
Lol I don't think Coventry are really the sort of bank to be looking at in that case! They've declined customers who have 100% flawless credit files and outright owned house before, until an appeal.
I think Natwest or HSBC would be better for you

That letter was truly horrible. It is the opposite to everything I believe in when opening an account. I carefully avoid any bank that requires superfluous information. I make a firm stand against it and have successfully opened many accounts. All that is necessary is two forms of ID and an application form with reasonable relevant questions. No NI number, no salary details, no employer details should be required. I leave them blank. The bank should treat the customer as king and be lucky they are getting the business. You have just reversed that role in one grovelling letter. :sad:0 -

The simple answer to this is for you not to go with the Cov BS then. At the time that account I wote about offered a credit interest rate of about 4.5% compared to the square root of nothing with other places. Also a customer service that is second to none.
I think it was worth "grovelling".
Hope you are happy with Santander or whoever else lets people open accounts easily because they are desperate for customers. :T0 -
I'm absolutely bowled over by the service so far.
Applied on Tuesday, forms received Wednesday, posted back same day with my ID, which they received Thursday and today I've already got my ID back!! Phenominal!
Account is still "Open in pending state" waiting for credit check to be done. I think this must be done manually rather than computer scored given how long it takes them. They said 3-4 days for the credit check. Vs. 60 seconds for most other places.
Still, that certainly doesn't bother me in the slightest. I like the personal touchCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I think someone applies for your credit file and then checks it out. Then decides if you are suitable to come into the fold! :T0
