Hmmm...hanging on by my fingernails.....but at least over the last two days I have now stopped the cycle of beating myself up with a wine bottle.

On monday morning I rang nice plumber and agreed the extremely reasonable quote to do all the plumbing bits at risk to minimise any escape of water/freezing pipes in the future......he has been booked in for mid Feb (and is bringing a mate.....ooooh....Wol books into hairdressers to get her roots done)

Unfortunatey the "not properly clipped dodget and bodget" loft pipework that had destroyed the bathroom ceiling couldn;t wait that long and decided to act up on monday afternoon......and the whole thing started again . Luckily however the insurance emergency plumber HAD mended the overflow pipe so it didn;t drip on the newly replaced bathroom ceiling this time.......but (and we knew this following my nice plumbers inspection to prepare the quote)...unfortunately the emergency plumber had failed to ensure the overflow waste actually exited the building.....so it was dripping into my soffits. :o

Cue Wol on the phone to nice plumber on monday afternoon and, armed with instructions and yet more string, did a makeshift repair on the pipework/ballcock until nice plumber could come and fix it yesterday evening :T:T.....I am getting the impression that I may have missed my vocation in life.:rotfl::rotfl:

I finally sent the cheque to the tax man on monday thus gaining another weeks interest to offset against my mortgage :money:

.....and have written (but not yet posted) [STRIKE]another Wol epic[/STRIKE] a letter to the water company about the farcical events last week. Upon studying their code of practice for standards of service i reckon I can reasonably expect to get back at least £40 credited to my water bill plus my plumbers call-out charge of £45...which will be a result if it happens.

I'm slowly getting used to the "[STRIKE]bodget[/STRIKE]" make good attempt of painting the rather thick extrusion of pink coving adhesive that abuts my tiles bright white (instead of chipping it out and grouting in a matching colour to the rest) so think I am going to sign this particular job off as I really don;t have the nergy to pursue it any further. The loft insulation has now been laid properly and the giant hamster love nest that was occupying half the loft is no more :T

Finally Muffin was confirmed as having a large bladder stone last week which would need an op to remove.....but is too risky owing to her current heart condition. We have put her on some meds to try and dissolve the stone....but, despite her pain medication, she is in considerable pain tonight when she wees and it smells like she has now developed an infection. (Doesn;t stop her wolfing down a load of lettuce though!). She's deteriorated rapidly over the last three hours and I'm off to the emergency vets now...where I suspect I may have to make a decision on her quality of life ..but to be honest I have been expecting this decision for the last few months. She's had a very happy extra year of life because we got her heart condition diagnosed and treated so while I'll be sad if we have to PTS, at least I'm prepared for this one.

    Got to go now

Hee hee....don;t I just love my guineas :rotfl:...their timing really is something else....Well by the time we got to the vets she had morphed from a pancaked piggie in tremendous pain (I couldn;t leave her like that 'til morning).....into a reet perky (if stinky) little madam (although she didn;t appreciate having her rear end inspected as she was rather tender) So it looks like for the last three hours she was having an episode of trying to pass crystals/sludge. She is staying in overnight so she can have a stronger pain relief than I am permitted to give her at home (opiates :D:cool:)......and will be re-assessed tomorrow by Spanish vet regarding best way forwards. So I am very relieved that I didn;t have to make "The Big Decision" tonight :)....but also hope I don;t end up having to put her on de-tox :rotfl::rotfl:

I don;t even want to think about how much the bill will be for a post midnight emergency call, drugs and boarding.......Think I need to sit down with the vets and ask for some more discount. At least I've been putting all their bills on a cash back credit card :money:

Should also get the microbiology results back tomorrow re: Bandits stinky willy.....thankfully I have already paid the bill for the tests ..and I reckon he must now have the most expensive rodent appendage in Sussex............(Cue Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger :rotfl::rotfl:)

Hmmm.....it does seem that these crafty piggies have decided to "up the anti" and move away from "ear, nose & throat" towards a new "bottoms" phase :rotfl::rotfl:...

    ..Cue Z ..... :p :kisses3:

I'm glad your own emergency repairs worked, Wol. I just can't believe how many vets bills you have, tho. Honestly, tho I adore your piggies (especially Maple and now Willow :smileyhea) I'd be terrified of having piggies in my current financial situation in case I ended up with comparable vets bills. Or any animal, actually - the cats too. When I break the £100,000 level, I'll do it then .... I may be a little while :)

    As I told you...

    http://www.clickgreen.org.uk/news/national-news/121801-uk-urged-to-ration-energy-to-hit-carbon-reduction-targets.html

Given that over 90% of the trade in the european carbon credit was fraudulent, how well do you think do you think this is going to get on?

    And on a lighter note...
