    a) You wake up to the delicate waft of "eau de dead rodent" coming through the floor of your bedroom right by the radiator (which btw isn;t turned on)
    b) you then find your shower/saniflow unit has frozen up overnight and unless you do something drastic will stay frozen for the forseeable future and then empty it;s contents all over your study ceiling when it thaws :(
    c) you therefore have no bath or shower and will be forced to resort to "french showering" early tomorrow morning before visit to chiropracter :o
    d) you excavate the en suite cupboard to bring heat to the Saniflo unit and discover said rodent is actually more than "the one that has demised"..in fact it;s a whole bluidy family.....and the little so*s have chewed through your Christmas presents.(eg one stuffed Bagpuss).....and pooped and peed whiffily all over your luggage :mad:
    e) you get ripped off in the Esso garage for one de-icer sapray and one 2L ready-to-use screen wash for ......wait for it...........£11.48 :eek::eek::eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:.....RIP OFF.....

and then pull into an "after 4pm on sunday and we're still open" Halfords and buy 15L of premium screen wash (suited to the much lower temps we are about to experience) for a measly £12.00

    BUT...the good news is
    a) I am over the disappointment of not getting to first intervew with the client after last week........I have discussed it with my counsellor and clearly there is something not quite right going on so i don;t need to take it personally
    b) I am actually Ok about all these "problems"...which proves I am getting much stronger about handling adversity compared to last year or the year before
    c) I have now spent the last 3 weeks with alcohol consumption down to only one bottle per week (albeit in one sitting :o)...and actually feel able to deal with ths now and it isn;t any longer the porblem it once was
    d) I have another two interviews scheduled for the next three weeks
    e) the money set aside is now safe so I can bill quite a lot between now and March :T:T:T

Beechie is doing really well following his op and is much perkier.....Bailey has a possible respiratory problem and is going to vet next week...as is Maple who has a growth on his nipple that looks nasty so needs to be removed. Having said that....the rest of the piggies are doing very well....and i'm loving having them in the lounge with me each evening

As for me I have been a tad busy with emergencies on the guinea pig forum this last week...even taking phone calls after midnight on sunday evenings ..especially in view of the cold weather which causes lots of probs for piggies.

Nevertheless...I am happy (apart from "eau de rodent" in my bedroom)

The insurance claim/bathroom ceiling is ....well...it just "is". Signed the madate and hopefully next week should get a start date. The bathroom is clear of personal possessions...but my bet is they don;t start work untill the the week before Xmas....so no bath and shower til then unless I get the en suite back up and running with the Saniflo unit before then

Back tomoz hopefully....will post in the interim if I hear from Smashed to let you know she is back safe.

Off to find some bubble wrap and sticky tape for the outside taps :o

OK, enlighten me - which way did she go.

And what was the percentage of non-sweary words?

She was originally on a B road netween Rippon and Harrogate (yep...I know ;)) and is just about to turn onto an A road 9 miles from home :o

Actuually...at the time.... the percentage of non-sweary words was high :)....but I expect it will diminish rapidly over the next hour :(

Check to see if your external tap has an internal tap. If it has, turn it off and open the outside one to drain.

Fabby suggestion Z....off to do same (if Dodget and bodget's past plumbing permits :D)

Good evening Wol, hope you are keeping warm with the piggies! Blooming Arctic round here (somewhere near Z land?), and not a nice time to be stranded in the snow - poor old Smashed! Hope she lands safely soon and can find some excuse not to venture out again tomorrow...no such luck for me, have to go to work tomorrow dead early, so will be up quarter to six to open up the cat flap (cat crossing all four legs at night, not wanting to use the tray when there's real earth out there, even if it is covered in snow), open the chicken's door and give her fresh water, have quick brekkie then start clearing the snow off the car. Will not be rushing to work, though, I'll get there when I get there, better late than late! (As in "the late Nargleblast").

  • Hi peeps,

Smashed is at last in the building, and as for the A road versus B road. I did tell a little white lie when I spoke to Wol earlier.

I was actually on the main A road that runs through the centre of Harrogate. But then I cam across a right turn that went onto
a very very quiet b road. Only me on it. And after going 5 miles in 3 hrs I thought It really cannot be any worse. So from that
turning onto the B road it only took me twenty minutes to get home. The police had put out a traffic warning that is was going
to be at least 3 hrs to get through the other way. Harrogate and surrounding areas were gridlocked. And I mean gridlocked.

Wagons stuck on hills, Cars abandoned, and there were lots. It appears Harrogate was taken by surprise with the snow.

Its a good job I know the little rat runs or I would still be there. The road I was on is still at a standstill.

I set of from Newcastle at 2.30pm and just got in. But at least I am home now.

Going to look at the 4 wheel drive tomorrow. And see if he will do me a deal. Getting fed up now. x x x x x LOL
