I'm feeling better, Z, thanks - more energy, anyway, which is the important thing. I have to remember not to use *all* of it in trying to get the house right, and use some on *me* instead. No white and crispy global warming round here at all, tho the Met Office seem to have said there's an inch or so in some parts of Sussex - I think Kittikins had some, I can't remember what she said now.
Wol - hope you don't mind the hijack!

You'd hope so, but having said that, last winter, one of my many dicy moments was on the A1 (M). Mr Snowplough had been caught napping that day...

Having said that, it's looking pretty good at the moment.

And having written that I now read the police are advising avoiding the A1(M) in Durham...

    Ho hum...

Having had a look on the "Photos of Snow" sites, it looks like we're one of the worst hit. North York Moors looks worse than out of my window, but you'd expect that.

She only minds when we party and the dancing girls flirt with the neighbours...

didn't realise this was the earliest snow for 17 years. hmm. glad to hear that you are coping with the snow ISH. We had a lovely day here today. Made it up into the mid 20's. So i guess we are in for a hot summer.

    take care over there

I know, but give me a break, I've just moved :p I've given myself till Christmas to do the big stuff, and apart from getting vinyl laid in the living room, I'll meet that deadline.

Partying - well, the neighbours *were* nice :D

Heeee heee...lovin all the chat in this thread :D:T

OK - I think she may have opened her gob a "tinsy bit too soon" as our dear Smashed is in a tad of bovver atm.........she got to work OK on time today, did her day............ but since leaving has been on the road since 3pm this afternoon.......she is now "only" 9miles from home and reckons it will take her another 3 hours at least :eek:

On the bright side she has.....
    a) a carpet in the car
    b) a blanket to wrap herself in
    c) plenny of fags
    d) today's newspaper
    e) enough petrol (unlike last week :o:p)
    f) stocked up on MacDonalds and chips 3 hours ago at the last garage

...and she'll text me once she gets back in. Good news is I don;t think she will attempt to go into work tomorrow as it is back the way she has come....but even further north

............so to all you people north of Watford Gap.......(Z take note ;)).....

    ......let's be careful out there.

Hope everone else has "frost-proofed" thier house and external pipework as its just going to get colder over the next week :(

Poor Smashed! So she's still out there? Ye gods, I'm glad she's going to text you.

Erm,Wol? What do you do to external pipework? I know about putting a rag over the actual outside tap (tho, oops, haven't done that yet) - but you do stuff to the actual pipes? I never have. Huge oops.

OK, enlighten me - which way did she go.

And what was the percentage of non-sweary words?

Check to see if your external tap has an internal tap. If it has, turn it off and open the outside one to drain.
