I'm loving these lighter mornings and evenings. It really puts a spring in my step.
I have been for 2 runs this week, hoping for my third this lunch time. It's been perfect running weather - blue skies, very little wind and little bit of sun but still nice and crisp. Rain expected here later and tomorrow
Great news about the car and well done for taking your debit card out of your purseIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Hi Poles, great to hear you. hope the debt free life is keeping you well:)
Well I have just opened the curtains to heavy snow. It looks lovely but I had my fill of it over the winter when I had to battle my way to work and I want it gone now. I don't have to travel too far today but tomorrow I'm going to do registrations at a 10k race and its 50 miles away. I shall now pray that the snow goes v v quickly.
I got 2 letters from my loan people saying that firstly I can take out another loan - nnnoooooooo and the 2nd letter was to say my car loan is finished :T. lovely to see it in black and white.
so next on my list of targets is my B'card credit card. I'm not putting anything extra to it next month as I have to pay MOT, about 3 birthdays and I'm giving my Mum money to go on holiday (she really deserves a treat).
On positive side it's nice to see light at the end of the tunnel and now because I've got my wonderful budgets and spreadsheets i actually have money at the end of the month. Not much but usually I was using one credit card to keep me going to pay day. Oh I'm having a bit of a retrospective morning.
The plans today were to potter in garden, go for a run and clean house. Thanks to that white fluffy stuff outside I think it will only be the house that gets tackled.
Right away for a coffee. Have a good day everyone.:jDEBT FREE 27 July 2011:j

Snow??? Whereabouts are you? It is a lovely sunny springlike day here (Kent). I hope we don't get any because it seriously depressed me last year
Think of the housework as exercise - you can still burn a load of calories hoovering
Great news about your loan and I'm glad the spreadsheets are working for you. I am far to rubbish with them to use them so i just write everything down in my little cash book and tick things off as they come out of my account. That way my running balance is the accurate figure, not the bank one. Best thing i have started doing though is to transfer the food money into a different account and stick to a set budget each week (tip from pixiechick :T). Grocery shopping was always my downfall but not any more
Have a nice weekend and stay warm. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Hi Poles, I live in N Ireland but really high up. From our house we can look across at the Sperrin mountains which look gorgeous covered in the snow. Good news was that it thawed off the roads yesterday and today it's clear.
I've just come back from a 10k race and it was brilliant craic. If I can't run at least I can be involved in some way.
Just put £50 worth of diesel in car:eek: but I should be able to claim it all back.
Oh well, will spend the rest of the evening reading the sunday papers and drinking coffee:jDEBT FREE 27 July 2011:j

Morning all
I know it's been ages since I posted but unfortunately things get in the way
I'm still in my new job and it is so busy which I love but at the minute with the opening of the new office - I have so much responsibility and it is all a bit daunting. Hopefully within the next few months I will find my niche and things will settle down.
Well on money front things are ok:o:o. I must admit that my spending diary has fallen by the wayside and I'm slipping into old bad habits which is why I'm back posting.
My car insurance was incredibly expensive 530 but I have claimed back 60 so that makes a slight difference. I had a small accident with a pillar about 3 years ago and I think it still affects my quotes. (It was the pillars fault)
Any money I was hoping to fire at my debt has been fired at the insurance.
My lovely BF has booked us a holiday in Sept and i need to find 600 to give to him before Sept as my contribution.
However today is Easter Sunday and I'm back on the debt busting with a vengeance (I know you've heard that before:D) but I have to find holiday money and I'm not going to find it by frittering my money away.
I have enough clothes, make up and toiletries to last me for a while so I shouldn't need to spend that much.
My sister is home visiting next Friday and I'm sure money will be spent but I'm going to be reasonable and really stick to Martin's money mantra. I've paid off a lot of debt and I need to just stick with it. I'm also going to a friends caravan during the holidays and I will need to contribute towards dinner etc but it's still a cheapish break.
Today is not going to be a NSD as I'm picking up the paper for mum before we go to church but it will only be the paper.
Anyway have a great day and enjoy all those Easter eggs

Morning all
What a gorgeous day outside. I have my trainers on and I'm going out to enjoy it for half an hour. I started back running 3 days ago while i'm waiting for an appointment with the sports injury clinic. I haven't run in months and although my knee twinges I'm not going too far.
I'm ran a mile in the slowest time ever and I was so out of breath. I can't belive that I've run 1/2 marathons and 2 marathons and a mile nearly killed me:D . I know it's best to start slowly.
I've joined a few challenges again on these boards for motivation. I weighed myself recently and since hitting goal with WW last year I've put on 9 lbs!!!! which is almost back to the start.:o. I've joined the May 7lb challenge.
I also joined the NSD and the weekly spend challenges.
For my holiday money spends I've put a brown envelope in BFs cabinet and intend to put £50 a month in there up to Sept. Which should cover holiday cash and incidentals such as suncream etc.
I think we're off to a vintage tractor and steam engine rally today (BF loves it, I don't mind it for an hour but then I get so bored.) which blows any chance of an NSD.
Back to work tomorrow and its going to be hard after having over a week off.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi all
Just a quick update, I spent £13.50 today. £10 on entrance per person!!!! for the steam rally and £3.50 on a crepe. I was absolutely starving so needs must. They know how to make their money out of these things.
It was a great day and thank goodness there was nothing I was tempted to buy.
OH making sausage and mash for tea:D

Hi all
Back to work today after having the week off:(. I need to- hit the shower
- have a large coffee
- make lunch
- breakfast
When I get home I want to start weeding the garden. I don't have much motivation to do it at the minute so heaven knows how I will feel when I get home.
I've just checked my online banking and almost all dds and standing orders have gone out today. It's scary to have a fat bank balance yesterday and then a skinny one today. At least now I can get cracking on my budgets.
Right away to put kettle on.:jDEBT FREE 27 July 2011:j

Morning all
Well believe it or not I did venture into the garden last week. I'm not finished but at least it's a start.
I earned £32.74 on Topcashback which has finally paid out (£30 was on WW membership which I cancelled once the offer was over). Technically it's just money that I've already spent but to me it is free money and I bought myself a nice new summer top at £25:D.
I'm still waiting for £60 to come back from my car insurance.
All in all things are pretty good at minute. I move to a new office in a fortnight and I'm coordinating the move between all the offices:eek:. It's a nightmare but I'm on my toes and I don't see the day flying in. Hopefully in a month we will all be settled.
I managed a short run yesterday but my breathing is settling down and my leg seems to be holding up.
Today's plans -
- run
- church
- finish weeding front garden
- start back garden
- iron
- quick clean of kitchen and living room
- read papers and put feet up:D
