Anyway, our story is our contract was up this week so we called and was adamant on cancelling (like we do every year) hoping to get a deal. So far we've never not got a good deal.
We was on £44 a month for the whole of everything. Sports, Movies, Multiroom, Family annd all in HD with the Sky + HD boxes. 1 in the living room, the other in the bedroom.
We eventually got through to retentions and asked us why we wanted to leave (bearing in mind our new deal would have cost £90+ per month0 and stated that it was far to expensive. He said what price would you like to be paying for the services we have. Basically...name your price.
I told him if he kept us on the same deal of £44 a month for everything we'd stay. Sure enough and without much haggling we've now got a new 12 month contract for £44 for everything.
Same again next year.
Does that include phone and BB, or is that just TV?0 -

Sky Phone Line (Weekend Calls)
Sky Broadband Unlimited
Sky Tv - 3D ready box
Sky Family Bundle
Sky Movies SD
Sky Sports SD
Sky F1 SD
Free BB for a year
Phone line £15.40
Tv Package £15
Far far far too many channels, and just end up watching council tv..
When did you sign up for that deal?0 -
I cancelled sky TV, BB and talk and was cut off on 6th May, phoned them up on 7th May and was offered 60% off TV package and half price broadband so instead of paying nearly £85 per month we now pay £42 per month. Having read other posts I possibly could have done better but I'm happy with my deal as have saved about £500 per year.
Next job is to find a new fuel supplier....it's time consuming trying to save money but it must be done!0 -
Both times I've got a deal out of Sky I've had to put my 31 days notice in before they'd offer me anything decent, you have to show them you're willing to leave0

Still no offers from Sky, so went to online chat & chose account & billing he confirmed it gets cutt off tomm and there are no offers on account , I said Ive been with Sky 15 years , he replied they can't give any offers at accounts & billing but will make a flag on the account to be contacted for an offer.. so have to wait and see, I wonder what dept others here went to to get an offer via online chat?
As we are away for half term maybe it's best I leave it, but shame all our series links will be gone. We still have Bb and phone rental with Sky though so maybe that's why we have no offers are others here canceling everything?
By going on line chat asking for a deal just before cut off shows you nerve is wavering and that you do not really want to cancel and are doing it for a discount.
Yes you will lose your series links, yes you may have to go cold turkey for a while but from now on Sky has to blink first.
That may mean a few weeks or longer without Sky, but right now Sky think you will crack before then and come back sniffing around for a deal.
I never had a deal for years of Sky and they cut me off without so much as 1% discount offered. 3 weeks later a 50% discount 12 months. fast forward 12 months and i expected to have do the whole thing again. rang up to cancel and was offered 12 months 50% discount there and then straight off the bat.
The longer you have been a full paying loyal customer the more likely it is you will be long time full price paying loyal customer in the future if you ask me.
Do not say you are cancelling because they won't give you a discount that you have heard others have got. Say it is too expensive and you are cancelling and are not interested in reduced packages or small discounts. leave it at that. no threats about going off to virgin or BT. No "i have been a loyal customer for years" , just you do not want Sky anymore because you can no longer afford it.
be nice and be polite , but do not ask for a discount and do not call them again "checking" when it goes off in the hope that all of sudden a nice 50% discount offer will be offered over the phone call you initiated. They will let you know soon enough when they are willing to offer you something.0 -

Sky will only monitor these boards from a customer service perspective, not in some impossible attempt to discover the identities of posters so as to deny them a discount!:eek:0 -

Agree with this. My Sky was cut off on Thursday after 6 years with no discount (laziness on my part) and the most they offered me was 10% off.
We wrote down all the channels we watched regularly at home, and couldn't justify the money being paid for what we got out of it.
If they want to come back to me with a 50% discount offer with a new box I might consider it, but until the football season starts again there's no hurry.
The only thing I'm missing right now is the pause and rewind functions. Didn't realise how much I used it without even thinking!0 -

I have absolutely no doubt you'll receive offers to return. You're unlikely to be offered a new box, however, unless you upgrade to HD (if you haven't already).
You're only likely to be offered a new box if you complain that the old one has failed and, even then, it will be a refurbished replacement-not new.
Why do you want a new box?0 -

Still got the old white Sky+ one I got when I signed up and its now starting to have a few issues.
They did offer to give me a HD box if I upgraded to the Family bundle but as I am trying to cut costs, I didn't want to pay an extra £5 a month. More so that I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the main benefit of that package, which is On Demand, as my broadband speed isn't the greatest.0 -
The family bundle hd upgrade sits permanently on my offers page as a £1.25 a month upgrade option. This is probably linked to the 75% discount I am on.
Assuming you get a 50% offer then it will likely (if you ask) apply to this upgrade. Then you should get a new box free or £49.99 for an all singing dancing.0
