Ref opting out of marketing. I'm not sure if I opted in or out. The only correspondence I have received from Sky was a survey online to give reasons why I was quitting. If an offer comes my way I will sign up. If not, the children will have to get used to free view.
Check your old "My Sky" account, if you've opted out of marketing correspondence you'll never receive any offers...

Just checked My Sky. Seems all the boxes are ticked. Seems strange we have had no contact at all over the last 30 days. I now have a one year old Sky HD box. A wireless thingy for sky On demand and a new dish all installed for freeview.
  • Been off Sky for 3 weeks now and it's bliss, no more cheesy channels that the wife watches. Got the 50% off flyer any package and B/B, wife was thinking about it but i managed to persuade her not to.

Mmmmm....not sure that this time of year may encourage Sky not to give offers. Could be wrong and hope for your sake that I am !

Suggest you wait until after New Year day and see wot offers you get.

I rang yesterday to haggle saying I was on a temporary contract which ends on 31 Jan (which is true) saying I need to reduce my costs. I gave them all the quotes from BT and Talk Talk (can't get Virgin TV). I pay £80 pm, the only offer Sky would give me was 1/2 price line rental for 12 months. I told him I wasn't interested. So once Christmas is over I will ring again and if no success going cancel TV and keep BB and phone and give them 2 months to contact me and then move all 3 to BT. Sister did this and within 2 months offered her all channels for 12 mths at 1/2 price.
  • We gave notice end of September and everything was off by the beginning of November,we had 1 offer during cancellation period of 20% off but refused. It took until about 10 days ago befor we got a come back to sky half price tv package offer through the post.Cut along story short we have ended up with sky entertainment extra, movies and sports, broadband, and phone line with free weekend calls for a grand total of £31 and a few pence a month, this is for 9 months and then it will go up to £46ish for another 3 months. We were paying £82 before this.
