  • I called sky this morning to "discuss" my bill as I was not happy with what I was paying. Basically I went through all the options to the cancellation team and said that I had seen HD tv and unlimited broadband cheaper elsewhere. They instantly offered me 6 months half price for the full TV package including sports and movies. Great bargin, but you must remember to call them to cancel after 5 months (as they require a months notice) otherwise they will carry on the package at full price.

I've just rung to see how I can reduce costs from the current £52 and they have given me the same package for £41.50 for six months.
  • Always worth a haggle.. currently on £35pm, Family Mix plus HD. Son wants to add Sports 1 & 2 and was quoted a rise to £55pm in HD. Complained that was way too much and could get better deals elsewhere - what offers? Reply was none so I asked how to cancel and was offered the phone transfer to cancellations. Quickly explained position and advised that as I have been a Sky customer for over 10 years (and out of contract) they could do 50% off for 6 months plus the usual HD £10pm - new total including Sports & HD - £32.63pm. Less than paying today and I get sports!

Interestingly I asked if this meant I would be tied in for a further contract period - answer No. So after 6 months she said I should call back before price returns to normal £55pm to haggle again!

    So always worth a shot!!

I posted that i got this offer in another thread, Found out they are sending the £100 M+S vouchers as well,
I have been with sky for a few years and had a old box, I have rang sky up loads of times to see if they have any offers. I want a box i can record and pause etc, I saw the £100 m+s offer but i don't have a HD TV but sky say all boxes are HD ready and it would cost me £159.99 to have it fitted etc with out the offer. I thought this offer would be the only way to have a HD box (pay £10.25 extra a month for the HD package even thou i did not have it and get £100 M+S vouchers working out only paying £23 for the box) But i came here and read that people were getting the boxes for £15 and no charges or HD packages. So i rang Sky up cancelled my order and said i wanted to leave sky (I was prepared to leave). I went through to this lady that said she would call me back, In the end i explained that i read MSE about people getting boxes etc for £15 she put me on hold and came back and said i could have a SKY HD + (3d box) for free no charges and no monthly fee, Infact i got it fitted 3 days later. So just from reading this forum i have saved £123. I know i would have had £100 M+S Vouchers but i would have been paying for them. I only pay £23.50 a month (no kids channels) and have a new 12 month contract.

The thing is i asked if i should send the £100 M+S vouchers back and was told no keep them, The thing is they are showing as been dispatched on 24/03 (checked my sky account online) and should take 3-5 working days to arrive. They have not arrived and i was wondering is anyone else waiting for them?

I have just managed to haggle my £95 entertainment package down to £55 for the next 6 months! Well happy with that. I called the Sky cancellation line and advised them that I wanted to keep my existing package (All channels, Sports, Movies, HD+, decent broadband, any time calls) but my girlfriend had seen the bill and she had hit the roof. As a result she had run off to Virgin (do your research on what Virgin have on offer and then knock £10 off) and Virgin had offered us the same package for £60. I told Sky that I wanted to stay with them but unless I could go back to my girlfriend with something that matched Virgin's offer then she was going to make me cancel Sky. The first guy got it down to about £70 a month. I said thats an improvement but still not as good as Virgin so unfortunately I would have to cancel. He then put me through to the Retentions team and they offered to half the cost of my TV package. If they know you are serious about leaving and you give them a realistic offer to match I am pretty sure they will half the cost of your TV package for 6 months. Good luck!

  • I phoned sky 20 mins ago and asked how much notice I would have to give. Telling I was having some financial difficulties and without any hassle the very nice lady gave me my tv package half price for 6 months. Really pleased with that. £22.50 better in my pocket a month than theirs.

I'm calling tomorrow reading this. Had little in the way of offers in five years.

The best I got today was a £10pm discount for 6 months. Given there was no need to agree any contract I accepted. He started to offer me a HD box but I don't have a HD TV and don't plan to get one until I move house. I mentioned 'my friend' got offered a 50% discount for 6 months but he told me that he 'wasn't aware' of any such offer.

Could I call back to push it further? My current deal is the £43.75 I think for the 'Five Pack with Sports Pack'. I'd like to stay out of contract as perhaps when I move house thing can be cancelled and new deal arranged in my partner's name at the new address - Quidco cashback etc will make that quite smart I guess.

When Sky halved my TV package for 6 months from £52.50 to £26.25 I didn't have to sign a new TV contract. Hopefully this helps.

  • I am with VM on XL package with phone and broadband.
Just got a new HD TV and phoned to upgrade box to V+ HD box.
I was quoted £49.95 for box and £40 for engineer to come out & fit it or £20 for it to be delivered .
I was bit shocked at price and said I would look at Sky prices and call back.
    Any advice
    Thanks
    :)
