Phoned sky on saturday morning. I'm currently paying £55 a month for TV (Sports and HD) have told them i would like to cancel as the price is just too much for us right now. Was instantly offered a new deal of £47 a month (after the price rise so its effectively a £10 a month offer) We were also offered a new HD box as our one is from 2009. That however would require a 12month commitment.
I may just cancel and see if i can get a further reduction. I'm not sure we'll stay at that price.
Just to add further to this. I rang back to reject this offer. The guy who I spoke to was really great and found a better deal. Got 50% off my old HD pack (was signed up before the new entertainment + pack was out) along with hat was previously offered. Bringing the cost down to 41 a month. Its a 16 quid a month saving so I've taken it.0 -

You have to cancel to get the big discounts. just had a look at my latest bill
You've upgraded from Entertainment Extra with Sports to Entertainment Extra with Sports & Movies 1 on 21 Jul
You have three charges for Entertainment Extra with Sports & Movies 1.
This is because your previous payment had already been taken when you upgraded to Entertainment Extra with Sports & Movies 1.
We therefore had to add your first partial month's charge and first full month's charge to this bill, as well as your ongoing monthly charge billed one month in advance.

OK, called them up, said I wanted 50% off for 12 months, the best they offered was 20% off for 8 months, so I bit the bullet and cancelled. I'm have entertainment extra with sports and movies HD but I'm in Hull so can't have other services from Sky.
So, 19th September is the day, lets hope I get a call before then.0 -
Have to agree with everyone else on here, that you do have to cancel to be offered the better discounts.
I was on a half price deal on entertainment extra, hd, movies and sports with multi room which was due to finish on september 18th, I rang up and cancelled on Thursday 15th august to hand in my 31 days notice, advisor kept me on the phone for about 20 minutes asking why I wanted to cancel? and how I would miss all the channels!!
I had actually already arranged a new tv package with Virgin media (yes I'm lucky to live in area where I can get both, i'm sure this must help when negotiating with them) and I told her this, all she could offer me was to drop the sports and offer 10% off for 12 months:mad:
I kindly declined, and went through with the cancellation. Had a phonecall today monday 19th from Skys outbound customer service retention team in Glasgow. He offered to do another 50% off for 12 months:j So I've got now Entertainment extra+, sky sports, sky movies, HD and multiroom for 47.50 per month for another whole year, which is a result:T0 -

Well I have I have called Sky today and cancelled my package, recently I have been on a offer of 25% discount for 9 months (originally for 6 months then extended for another 3 months).
Over the years I have threatened to cancel a number of times and have always been offered something before the cancellation has been activated, this time I got nothing probably due to the fact that I have had a recent offer.
I will be able to hold my nerve and cancel but not too sure if I'll get orders from the wife and kids to cancel the cancellation nearer to 13th Sept
31 days and counting!
Well I got a phone from Sky on Saturday asking why I was leaving (I told them), they came back with an there initial offer was 25% off for 12 months..............I told them that I wasn't interested and asked for 50% for 12 months to which they agreed after a short discussion, there was no tie in with the deal either, so that works out at £28.50 per month (after Sept price rise) for the Sky World package.
I already have a 500GB HD box but no subscription to HD.
Happy days.0 -
I got an email from Sky for a survey asking "Where we went wrong" due to go off at end of month and no phone calls as yet.
I got a survey too, it's just too funny :rotfl:
I never even bothered looking at it.
Completing the questionnaire with wisely chosen answers can improve the chances of you receiving an offer to return to Sky with a sizeable discount.
Ignoring it can lessen the chances of you being offered one at all.
walney,
Welcome to the forum.
Please, however, would you stop posting in blue.

I did complete it, remember ticking that I thought sky was not good value for money. The survey referred to my first call to ask about a discount. I ended up hanging up because I'd asked 3 times, can you just cancel please and she just kept trying to dissuade me without actually offering anything.
I've had a letter today confirming my cut off date saying "if there's anything we can do to change your mind... all you need to do is call" but think I'm just going to let them call me. If they don't going to see how we get on without.0
