I have been desperate to lower my costs of £82 for whole package so called on 23rd July, spent over an hour talking with retentions and finally agreed to reducing to Entertainment with Sports package, BB and phone for £56 p/m. Really pleased with that until the letter arrived saying it was £76 p/m! Have emailed three times with no response, spoken twice on live web chats and phoned another two times but still to no avail - promises they will listen to the original call and honour that price if they hear it have resulted in no ring backs when promised - I wonder why lol. Today the best thing I was offered after another 30 minutes was 20% of TV and free line rental, meaning £76 for whole package. Still waiting for another promised ring back but I think this time I will see it through to cancellation, unless they can give me a damned good deal after 16 years with them. Dont know how Ill cope without my Spanish football and until December I have no competition here for BB. So we will wait and see.I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

Hi
I've been on the following Virgin Media package for ages and wonder if I'm paying too much. Is this a fair deal? Would be grateful for advice on whether I'm likely to succeed at haggling it down?!
Loyalty Pack B B/ Phone/TV B
Talk Weekends
Fully Itemised Billing
TV Size: X L
1 Additional V Box
V+ HD Monthly Fee
TiVo Monthly Fee
Broadband M (Up To 20mb)
Telephone Line Rental
Total £53.14
Thought I'd compare this with Sky but can't make head or tail of their website. They don't seem to offer similar TV/broadband/phone packages for comparison. I'd rather price it online rather than getting involved with them over the phone.0 -
Was offered 50% off Sky TV today. Didn't take it. Might rethink later on but the guy couldn't guarantee the offer would be there if I called back another time.0

Hi
Seek advice regarding cutting costs on my virginmedia bundle. Currently my bill is £40-45 pm for the following package:
BBnd: up to 30 mb
TV: Medium + package
Ph: Medium package
Called them last night and asked what they could do in terms of helping me cut my costs (mentioned that I would rather stay with them but phoning around just in case). At min I'm exploring all options, including dropping part of a package and going somewhere else to a provider for BB only (is that possible?). Or dropping the TV package and getting a Freeview box.
I should also say that I am finally outside my contract.
All views welcome.
Thanks

Been with sky for many many years now and have absolutely no complaints about them at all, aint half a bit expensive mind.
Been looking over a lot of the comments on here and the potential discounts that can be achieved sound pretty great.
Anyone got any experience with getting a good deal on adding sky sports / a multiroom box on top of the usual tv/net/phone package that i already have?
Thanks!0 -

I contacted Virgin today. I'm currently paying around £62 pm for the Large TV package, 20mb broadband and my phone line.
I didn't play hardball, I simply told them I was thinking of leaving as I'd seen a good offer from Sky. I told them I actually like Virgin, but I didn't feel I was getting value for money.
They fiddled around with a few parts of my account, and offered me an upgrade of - A new Tivo box, a V+ box in my sons room, upgrade to 60mb broadband, upgraded from the Large TV package to the XL (with free BT Sports) and a "free weekend calls" phone tarriff.
And my bill has gone down from £62 to £48!!!
Seriously, just phone them up, be nice and tell them you want them to do a bit more for your custom. It worked for me.0 -
Called Sky today to rejoin for the new Premier League season. Got 50% off everything except the HD Pack (wouldn't budge), with no contract so I'm now paying £59.25pm for all of my telecommunications stuff:
Sky Entertainment Extra+ = £15.50
Sky Sports = £10.50
Sky HD Pack = £5.25
BT Sport HD = £0
BT Infinity (80/20 Mbps unlimited) = £17.25
BT Line Rental = £10.75
BT Evening & Weekend Calls = £0
Quite pleased with this, although BT line rental is going up by £1pm next month and Sky will be £1pm more too.0 -
I have been with Virgin for the past six years, dipping in and out with Sky Sports depending on the season and the games shown.
I have
XL TV
M Telephone with paid a year in advance as much cheaper
Caller Display
60MB Broadband
1TB TiVo
Extra HD Box
My Monthly bill is £50.25 (obviously not including the telephone).
I am going to dip back in the Sky Sports and wonder if I should try to negotiate the subscription or am I getting an extra good deal, or not!To Dare is To Do:beer:0
