Your not alone foxyuk. Its been about a month for me too and not heard from them.

Not too bothered to be honest as their free service is good enough for me.

The fault I have is,when I plug a phone into the hall socket, using the extension they provided, which plus into the hall faceplace and has a double phone socket on the top of it,and it also says 'sky tv do not remove'it hisses. When I plug the phone in direct, all is well.If this extension is not plugged in,I cannot access interactive,or use the phone in the livingroon.Yes I have all filters in place. That was when I realised that the first person I spoke to had not listened. He was telling me to unplug the hall extension and !!! a filter.Through trial and error,we had already tried this and knew it knocked the Internet right out.Googling this, and further investigation behind the dreaded living room unit,we knew that adding a filter here was a no no,as there was already one behind the unit.

I am going to phone again later,I am also unhappy with my BB speed,a few weeks ago I was able to watch i player in HD,now it is not fast enough.Going through the diagnostic pages on sky first though,I don't want to be doing their bidding when I can hardly get from A to B

I will let you know what happens:undecided

Ok, where is the master socket?

If it doesnt have this faceplate on it:

Or does it have a splitter on it like this:

Note, you only have to have the phone line connected for 1 year after you take out the sky contract. Unless you buy items via your sky box then there is no need for it to be connected at all as the phone line is used to send back the list of items that you have purchased, nothing else.
  • I'm not sure how far you'll get with this, fully five years after your initial installation.
Just write your letter to the Customer Service Department. Only escalate it higher if you are still unhappy after they reply.

Disagree, put the complaint in writing...

But as you say, it was fitted 5 years ago and was working up until recently. Hardly a strong case to put in writing.

Hi folks, a new moneysaver here. Already a Sky customer, was paying £43.50 for basic tv package plus broadband/phone.

I said we have a new TV with freeview, and we were thinking of going to BT for a cheaper broadband/phone package. My fiancee is better on the phone so at this point I handed the phone over and asked her to haggle for me. They offered to lower our bill to £30 and added the entertainment plus package at no extra cost, that's £13.50 off our monthly bill and loads of new channels. We mentioned we're expecting a daughter in September, so now we've got all the kids channels to watch (nickelodeon!!) :jas well as discovery/nat geo/etc. which we didn't have before.

Very happy and a huge saving from just a 10 minute call

I used to work for NTL customer retentions before it became Virgin media. A good way of negotiating a deal is to see one elsewhere that you like and ask them to match it or threaten to leave. A good one at the moment if you like a simple TV package is a comparison to Talk Talks current Youview freeview box offering:

1 - M TV (a simple package, basically Freeview channels)
2 - 30MB broadband with a new super hub if you dont already have one.
    3 - 150 Mins a month allowance to UK mobiles/0845/0870 numbers
4 - Unlimited calls to UK landlines at any time (calls less than 1 hour, then redial)
    5 - 500GB Tivo box
    6 - telephone line rental.

You can get this off Virgin for effectively £25.01 a month with customer retentions team.

How? Have ebilling, pay 1 year line rental up front with their call saver package (£120 a year = £10 a month). The install of Tivo you can haggle down to £25 from £50 too if you dont already have it, thats added to your next bill.

Having paid your line rental upfront, your monthly direct debit amount is only £15.01 a month for the above deal! I got this for me, my mum and my sister. (This price includes a £5 a month loyalty discount which is applied for two years, so dont forget to call back an negotiate again then before that discount runs out). You sign into a new 12 month contract by taking this retention package.

Hope thats useful in these money saving times!!

It has the second faceplate on it.Or it would have if the guy from Openreach had bothered to screw the plate down properly,it looks as if he has cross threaded the screws, and looks like it does not fit properly.
Rang Sky today about the BB speed.Been stuck with about 25002kbps,not enough to watch iplayer in HD and have the kids moaning that it is always sticking.Well, wonderful chap now has us at an amazing 12540kbps!!:jHe is phoning back on Wed to see how we are getting on with it and to help out with our other problems. He was so nice and good at his job it shocked me,and he is going to see what deals are available then,as he said some are changing today,so they might be able to make a better offer then!
    Here's hoping:D
