• Just received phone call from Sky as we're no longer customers and was offered EVERYTHING for free for 6 months - full Sky package incl. movies & sports. Needless to say we took them up on it.
Surprisingly we were also offered the same FREE deal (but just for 4 months ) and had finished that just 2 months ago,

Extremely happy with this deal - we can easily go without Sky for a couple of months or more a year to get it free.

We still have a very old Sky box - not even a sky+ box so maybe that's why they offered it?

By the way I am also not on a contract and have the deal for 12 months :j:j.

flyers through door for 1/2 price for 12 months kept throwing them in bin, until they phoned and and offered free sky full package for 6 months
Over the course of a year, isn't half price for 12 months the same as free for 6 months?

Yeah but you can cancel after the 6 free months and have 6 months free + 6 months without Sky, instead of 12 months paying half price for Sky.

I'm pleased with what I got today. I called Sky as I was due to be disconnected tomorrow & I'd have missed any call they'd have made to attempt to keep me. I was passed on to another department where I reiterated my motivation (cost saving, happy with service etc) and I was put on hold for a good five minutes while he 'went to check offers'.

When he returned he offered me my existing package (HD, Sports, Entertainment - everything but movies) for £10.50pm for six months with no contract. Can't really grumble at that so I thanked him and that was that.

Just called and spoke to Bruce in cancellations department. Told him about this offer, best he could come up with was 25% discount, or the package you got for £40.00 (and a bit).

Looks like I'll be moving to YouView free from TalkTalk after all.
    To infinity and beyond!

I had Sky entertainment, line rental, calls and broadband and then also a lovefilm sub,

We were paying £65 ish for all of the above, called to say it was too expensive and was offered a £5 off line rental discount, called back the next day and was told i could only have either a discount on line& broadband OR tv. He offered a multi room option with 3 months half price movies, he said it would be the basic sky+ box for multiroom.

I called back for a 3rd time and was offered free line rental for 6 months, no tie in - i accepted this. I then went online and upgraded to multi room with the 2tb box, half price HD sub for 6 months and free install.

I called today and asked for the movie offer if i could and she said she could better it - she added it on as we were speaking at 6 months half price.

I now pay £48 per month for MORE than i had previously, very pleased i called

  • This weekend I decided to reduce the cost of subscription to Virgin Media, they have provided the Tv, Broadband & Telephone for a few years. I did this following a search of 2 comparison sites and this forum. In an earlier posting a Virgin Media customer reduced their bill down from £50+ p/m to £30p/m. I have got the same deal but with the free installation of Tivo + 1 month free subscription.

My old deal: £50 (Annual cost £600)
    Tv: Large
    Broadband: 20mb
    Phone: XL

The New Deal: £30 (12 month contract)

    TV: M (basic)

    Broadband: Large – 30mb

Phone - unlimited calls and 150 min a month for 0845 and mobile numbers

TIVO Box - (free installation) + 1 month free subscription

(Although I would like to retain more channels, I prefer the cash saving of what should amount to £300+ over the 12 months). I was informed by Virgin Media to get TV: M+ included in this package would cost an extra £13 p/m.

If paid upfront, the annual cost of Line Rental reduces from £179.88 to £120, a saving of £59.88, thus reducing the monthly charge from £30 to £25.01 p/m. Moreover, because the annual cost has been paid up front - I will now only have to pay £15 p/m for the remainder of the services, minus the 1 free month.

Projected Total Cost - £25.01 X 11 = £275.11 (If phone calls are kept within the limit then this will be the cost, however, it also assumes that Virgin Media don't stick their prices up again as they did in January by £5 p/m)
