Just called to ask if they can offer me any discount if I was to renew with them, they offered me:
TV XL
Talk Weekends
Tivo box in lounge
V+ HD upstairs
VHD in another room
60mb broadband (increase from 30mb)
All for £59.49 guaranteed for 2 years with only a 12 month contract. Bit her arm off!CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -
Was just wondering if anyone had sucessfully managed to create a new account under another family members name within a year of cancelling, as my sky subscription is due to terminate on the 21st March and MSE has managed once again blag more 50% codes...
Help and advice would be appreciated...
Btw havent received a call back from sky since i rejected there 25% off offer...0 -
I phoned Sky to try and haggle down our package, which only includes Sky Sports, no movies, phone or broadband. They would not budge on our £55 per month. In fact they want over £80 per month if we include phone and broadband. My nephew, who lives locally to me, gets the whole lot, including HD for £35 per month. We don't even have HD. I think we will leave when O2 moves over to Sky, as we are being totally ripped off. Any suggestions?0

As per usual. Dont haggle, just cancel and see what they do.0

Sky have moved their call center to Asia and will happily keep you on the line for 3 hours, premium rate, before they tell you they have no authority to give you a discount. Eventually they just hang up. Sky tv used to have one of the best service levels going, now it is a complete sham.
I've spoken to Sky (lovely chap) twice today and both times it's a Scotland based centre. I suppose it depends why you're calling. Call with a complaint and it's Asia. Call with any issue that might cost them income and it's UK all the way.
I called to day to cancel my Sports package and ended up getting it free for 3 months (saving £14/month) with no ongoing obligation. I didn't even have to push that hard. Will call again in 3 months time and threaten to pull the lot based on today's result.
The way to look at this is that Sky need to sell ad time to make a profit. If they can show growing viewer bases in a specific category then they can charge more for airtime. Therefore their business is based around viewer figures and that means they not only need to add but also keep what they've got.
As a TV package provider no-one else can touch them. Boardwalk Empire, Girls, Madmen.... Who else is doing that kind of quality at the minute? Free to air certainly can't compete. And, to be honest, their CS really isn't that bad. Miles better than Virgin and BT from my experience.
If I can save a few quid a month by spending 10 minutes on the blower to retain my package then I'm more than willing to put the effort in.0 -
Hi Everyone
I might be asking a silly question but I have had a email today from MSE about the 50% of sky for new customers. Is this to good to be true as I have been doing a live chat on the sky web site and have not been able to get them any lower than £79.00 for phone broadband and tv including sky sports and movies. Have they done a offer like this before and has anybody taken it up?
Many thanks in advance

MSE has released the codes a few times already and people have used them with no problems.0 -
rang sky middle of Feb as contract up in March, said could they do anything on price as was paying for phone, u ltd b-band, entertainment package & hd. was told the best they could do was £5 off line rental which i declined as id seen the 50% off codes & offers being given here.
got call backs etc suggesting i cancep the hd-but i said i only went with sky for the f1 so without it there was not much point, i remained positive and even said i would have considered other packages of theirs if the price was reasonable but they kept saying £5 off was a good deal & all they could do.
got a call back from customer service and told them i get the mse email & while not expecting 50% off(as not a new customer) they could surley do better than £5 off a package that is costing me over £48-50.they said no can do, i said ok ill use my freesat box then & said to them if they had a deal to offer that it was best if they did it asap as i need phone & b-band & if i signed with someone else id be locked in for 12 months. still nothing.
got talk talk sorting b-band & phone on 23, tv went off on 13th. i have yet to recieve any other offers from them, am i still likely to get one? will i have to wait for my b-band etc to turn off??
dont really understand them-they could have kept me as i had tv,bband & phone just for a bit more off but not interested yet another 50% off code is on here today.just dont get it, incidently i didnt get a discount when i signed up originally in Feb 2012.0 -
I'm pleased with what I got today. I called Sky as I was due to be disconnected tomorrow & I'd have missed any call they'd have made to attempt to keep me. I was passed on to another department where I reiterated my motivation (cost saving, happy with service etc) and I was put on hold for a good five minutes while he 'went to check offers'.
When he returned he offered me my existing package (HD, Sports, Entertainment - everything but movies) for £10.50pm for six months with no contract. Can't really grumble at that so I thanked him and that was that.0 -

Please don't call on their premium number, instead use 0207 126 7020 which is the same number and will normally be included in your call plan saving you a lot of money. It takes you to exactly the same place (call centre) as their premium number.0
