  • Got another call from VM retentions they said they couldn't get me any money off & were trying to reduce me to an M+ package as opposed to the XL which I'm on. I'm going to hold out for better I'm in it for the long haul

Any scope to re-negotiate this do u think with Virgin:

    Bundle Charges

    Talk Weekends
    Fully Itemised Billing
    T V Size: X L
    2 Additional V Box
    V+ HD Monthly Fee
    TiVo Monthly Fee
    Extra Set Top Box Discount
    Broadband Size: L
    Loyalty Customer

    Bundle Charges total
    £51.00

    Promotional offer(s)
    CR £11.00

    Total excluding line rental £40.00

(You'Re Receiving A £11 Loyalty Discount. If You Change Your Package You May Lose This Discount Which Will End 01-DEC-13 )

One of the extra boxes they gave without charge is in cupboard, we don't watch hardly any of the tv channels but the kids will lose a couple of the ones if we downgraded. Any advice or am I getting such a good deal that there is no scope to change?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Its cheap for three boxes. If you remove one you will lose the loyalty discount you get (which is greater than the benefit of that one box in the cupboard)

They won't call more than a couple of times...
  • Called Sky end of December to cancel (to see if could get cheaper deal!!) Told them I would like to stay with them but can''t afford it and were they doing any deals. They said no so I said go ahead and cancel the account (with notice , they would close it in 30 days time) Got a call last week asking if I dont watch anything in particular so I told them the films as they are mostly repeats. They then offered me 12 months at less than half price without the films. (Was paying £55 per month, now paying £23.50) They advised that I can add films at a later date if I like and can also cancel when I like (dont have to sign up for the whole year) I am quids in.......yippeeeeee!!!!! :)

Hey, congratulations. I'm in the same position less the call from Sky. can you tell me exactly what you deal you got ? Sports? Entertainment extra etc. Cheers.
  • Does anyone know the number for the win back team?

Also, do you know if they log your calls? I.e. if I called several times, would they know I have and think this guys at it and keep offering me the exact same deal?

I cancelled and have been cut off now, as they would not give me a deal to stay

I just called and was offered 25% off for 6 months on any package (with no tie in), or a multi room subscription for free on the full package with HD
  • Ive cancelled 3 weeks ago. If they were to ring me does anyone know what the number they call from is likely to be.

I run a business and get so many spam calls a day i never answer the phone unless i recognise the number.

Worried i may not pick up if they did call.

On another note has anyone on here tried Freesat and is it any good.

we'll see the first call was a missed call & the guy said that deal was on my account should I reconsider. Going to leave it to the very last moment, it's like a game of chess & I'm terrorising their Pawns & heading for the Queen :D
  • First of all I'm sorry for asking what has probably already been covered - I have read through quite a few pages but basically I'm just a SKY TV customer with a Sky + box and mot of the queries I read through seem to involve TV & broadband options etc.

I would really like to get my costs down plus I can't get the On Demand service (used to get Anytime but this has now stopped). What is the best tactic to use to get a reduction please and maybe a new box?
We could go for Freeview but I dont think we can get Virgin in this area so can't use that as a lever.
We have Sky Entertainment Extra and Sky Sports Pack, both of which we use a lot.
Can anyone advise best way to handle this - should I say we are thinking of cancelling or going to Freeview, would this work or are we just stuck with costs.

See my post #2939 in this thread. My dad was in the same situation as you and negotiated a very good deal, including upgrade to HD and a reduction in overall cost without losing any channels.
