I'm out of contract by about 18 months and after the line rental rise i'd be paying £57 for phone (evening and weekend), broadband unlimited and entertainment extra, HD. I got them down to about £44 but thought considering people post here who pay that or less and have movies or sport as well that there was room for more. I asked them do beat virgin's £38.90 and offer it for £35. They wouldn't so had to proceed with the cancel.
I do like their service etc and didn't think I was taking the mick but they have put the cancellation through. Just wondered whether people thought I was asking too much?0 -
Can anyone help??? We've been with sky for 7 yrs and never asked for a discount etc. we have full tv inc sports n movies, phone line and BB. We contacted them tonight for an offer as our box is on its way out plus it would be nice to get a discount for being a "loyal" customer but they can only give you a new box or a discount on price but not both!?! VM are throwing out a much better deal but we really don't want to move, any hints or tips for getting a discount and a replacement box? Tia0

buy a box on ebayDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Did you speak to retentions, or to ordinary CS? The latter never have the decent sweeteners, you need to say 'I want to cancel' and get put through to retentions.
Replacement boxes are free on freegle or peanuts on ebay.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Similar to my parents, they have been customers for 12 years and have never asked for a discount. They have Sports, Movies package, BB and calling plan. I phoned Sky up to ask for a free upgrade to a Sky + box but they insisted on charging for it.
I'll be calling them again and going straight through to cancellations. I will also do a speedtest on the BB as it is slow and probably not much higher than 1MB download to add that to the argument.0 -
thanks for the feedback, ill ive that a go towards the end of the month and let you know how i get on!0

help required ....
I spoke with sky tonight on the online chat thing and i haggled down to 20% discount for 12 months which was actually quite good ive said i will speak with the wife and et back to them as im planning on leaving to cut cost.
My question is .... would the lady on the online chat have been retentions or just call centre ? if just the call centre then i will carry on to retentions and try and get a better deal if its retentions ill happily take the saving.
Any advice appreciated.0 -
To get to retentions you just have to say the magic words 'I wish to cancel my contract'. You will be put through to 'what Sky coyly call 'disconnections'-it's not officially called retentions. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi
Thanks for the advice, for the last 3 nights we have been on to them for over an hour trying to get a deal and place them on notice to cancel, but they absolutely refuse to budge and actually admitted they cannot match the deals by VM. Put them on 30 day notice last night and will wait 2 weeks to see if they make an offer before signing up to VM. We reckon we can save about £30 a month with VM so unlikely SKY can help.
Thx again!0 -

After been on to them for the last 3 nights the best deals they can apparantly do is 20% for 12 months or 25% for 6 months, with no tie ins.0
