A Sky box with an expired subscription will continue to operate as a Freesat From Sky box so you get all the free-to-air channels on Freesat plus some other free-to-view ones that require a viewing card (e.g. Channel 5 HD). You cannot record unless you pay Sky £10 per month for the privelege.
Just following this thread and mostly new to all this, just to confirm that if I cancelled Sky, free to air channels would still work through the sky box? am reviewing my options at the moment.0 -

Can someone please confirm the following for me please:
If I have a half price sky deal which expires in feb and
just last week I took up an offer of sky lline rental @ £3 a month and 6 months free broadband offer. I know this is a 12 month contract.
If I was to cancel my TV in feb when the offer expires will I still be able to keep the offer on the line rental and broadband? or is it all linked?0 -
They are separate, you can cancel individual components.0

Having read the article on haggling to reduce costs with Sky I decided to give it a try. I suspect I was speaking to the wrong department but had absolutely no success whatsoever, even when I said I would move over to Freeview. Instead, the person I was speaking to was happy to list all of the channels I would get on Freeview! She offered me their movie package for an extra £1 a month but was not open to reducing costs, other than removing packages completely. Don't think I'm cut out for haggling:rotfl:0

I've spoken to Sky and also had no offers! I've given my notice so Sky ends 14th October. Can i sign up in my husbands name as a new customer to take advantage of the 'new customer' offers? Do u think its worth calling a few days before the sky is cut off?
I'm soo rubbish at haggling :-)0 -

Why don't you try ringing them and see what they offer you.
Good Luck
Got home yesterday to find leaflet for 50% off TV for 12 mths
Should i take it or wait it out and see if i get the 75% off.0 -
Hi everyone
Loads of trouble from the beginning to cut a long story short at present I have half price TV and free line rental for a year (from July) after reading various posts I rang sky to try and get the movies pack on a deal didn’t hold out much hope
I told them a friend had the movies pack for £8.00 half price could I get the same if yes I would have it he looked at my account and said ok (I don’t have sky sports)0 -
Morning
I just phoned sky to cancel and was prepared to go down the cancellation route after seeing the offers that people have after leaving. Anyway the lady on the phone asked me if i wanted to cancel HD or take away sports - i said no hubby would be v upset so better to just cancel completely. We current;y pay £57.50 per month (£47.50 sports and entertainment and £10 hd). So she reduced our bill to £35 for sports/ent and £10 HD so £45 in total. Not a massive saving compared to some others on here ( and maybe if i had held aout a bit more she may well have redued some more)but a saving nonetheless which will help our finances. Good luck0 -
Regards the MSE codes for new customers yesterday:
For any of you irate existing customers that feel they're missing out (like me) - I went to retentions 08442 41 41 41 and haggled - guy gave me a not too good deal over 'phone, but I had a feeling, so logged back onto my account tonight and found a new offer - HD Pack @ £5/month for 12 months (min. 12 months) - with free Sky+HD box, free set up, free changes to dish, LNB, cables if needed, free Anytime+ set up (not sure about free Anytime+ wireless)
Thing was, when you added it online, it wacked a £10.50/month multi-room on (which isn't in T&C's), so back on the blower to rententions and boom! All in for just a £5/month extra (sub, box, dish, LNB, cuddly toy).. Installation date arranged.
Might be worth a punt for you others...
Can't post screen shot for offer in mySky as a newbie... :-(0
