Has anyone had any luck negotiating on the price of the 1TB sky box?
We're forever running out of space, as we record lots of HD content, and just watch as & when we have time.

We currently have TV+HD+BB+LL+LR package - so are pretty good customers. I just begrudge paying the £250 asking price for the box :D
Good luck negotiating any set prices on Appliances, the offers DOESN'T exist. However you can get 25% off on any/All package(s) you have with Sky for 3 months, and if you're extra nice to the agent, you may even get that over 6 months. It depends on how you work your plea to them. I should know,I have applied offers like this.

Hi, I'm in a slightly different position to many on here in that I want to add Sports to my Sky package for the F1 and footie. Only got Entertainment Extra on an old Sky+ box at the mo so ideally I'd like a HD box and HD too but can't really justify an extra £30 a month. Currently have phone with BT and Sky not in my exchange for BB (so can't go there) but is it worth 'enquiring' that if I add Sport and the phone that they give me HD for free or should I go down the cancellation route ? Would even a threat that I might cancel "as I've been doing some sums" do the trick or is it a non-starter ?

Rather not go to Virgin unless I have to so any suggestions on my best tactic as I'm an upgrader !

    Cheers all.
There is a special offer on the HD box at the moment. I'm sure you can get it for FREE or you get FREE Installation, - not 100% sure, as I've not looked at the special offers recently - about a month ago that was the norm. And there is a special offer on the Sports package too. Give them a call and see what you can get? If you want to wait til i'm back at work? (weeks time) You can always send me an email and I'll apply the package for you myself.

The word "cancel" does not always work in Sky, You're in a good position to get a good deal from what you've put down there without threatening to cancel from sky. The problem that some of you face is, if you threaten to cancel and get passed through to cancellations, you could actually end up losing your viewing with sky because they've taken it literally and not offered you any offers to stay with them. It can be seen that if you pay very little towards your entertainment you are no big loss to sky if you leave.... Just food for thought there. ASK SKY NICELY, and you MAY receive! :)

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine they would want to lock you in at the new price.
Discounts with sky, are normally only given if you are out of contract and you will be put into a new contract for the offers to be applied to. Normally 12 months.

Hi, I need some advice if poss.

We are with sky but have been out of contract with them for a few years now. We currently have an old sky + box, entertainment plus package,( no sports or movies) and a multiroom subscription. Currently we pay £34 a month for this.
My husband rang cancellations last week to see if there were any better deals. He was offered a free hd box and sky sports for £20 a month. Being not very impressed with this offer he threatened to go to virgin (I told him not to say this!) and he said the operator was really rude and said that we couldn't even do that if we wanted to as we aren't in a virgin area. She also snottily pointed out the he had rung up cancellations last November.
I just wondered what anyone thinks would be the best plan of action for us. Do we try and ring again? The deal is pretty poor as we can't afford to pay an extra £30 a month for HD and sky sports :(
All Entertainment companies have to put up with being threatened by customers to go to other companies for a better deal. All I can say is, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Sounds like the CS rep you spoke to was very well informed. At £34 pm you are a low margin customer for Sky, so they're not likely to offer you a discount-only a freebie upgrade.
Now that Sky's subscriber base has stalled at around 10m, what they're concentrating on is upselling to existing subscribers, as that's where the profits lie.
i totally agree with that statement, and its 10.5 million customers now
  • I purchased 30 meg broadband from Virgin In November last year.
I believe the promise was between 30megs with an average speed 19 megs, so far In the evenings I am lucky if I get 7-9 megs.
With it being half term and the kids are home the speed is down again to 9-11 megs.
We have been promised via the television adverts that our speed will be doubled, what utter crap Mr Branson I would be more than happy if I got what I pay for 30 megs !!!!!
    :mad::mad::mad:

    PS
I have had the engineers out twice with a promise of an improvement in March they did not say which year though.
Has Technical support tweaked your broadband router?
The problem with Virgin is its cable, and busy times, they cap the speed down. They also tweak the router to keep the speeds lower. If they know, you know that router can be reset to get faster speeds, you'll get a better service when you call them about your speed next time. They may think all their customer's are woolly, - but really you're not! :) Just a suggestion!

How much for sky tv hd, broadband and phone? rang sky not much good :( didnt seem to want to know!! Ive never had sky before, at mo paying £32 mnth just for line and broadband with bt
BASE package = A perfect blend of comedy, drama and must-see shows from both sides of the Atlantic, across over 40 great entertainment channels, plus 2GB broadband usage and inclusive calls. £20.00 month (plus Sky Line Rent)
    Off the sky.com website.
I would like to point out tho, the 2GB usage, if you go over that twice in a 6 month period, you will automatically be upgraded to the Unlimited which costs ££'s Its very easy to use 2GB a month.
Also make sure the exchange you use is unbundled, because Connect costs £17 per month, and this price quoted here, will have the £17 added to it. Although it does get discounted to £10 a month, if you ask nicely.

Check the sky.com website for further details

it will have all the details on it. Too much to list in this message.
    HOpe this helps?:T

    Welllll.....

I came home today expecting to see full sky sports but have only sky sports 1!!

I called retensions and she told me that no way could i get the above package for £66, it would cost somewhere closer to £77.

I explained that the advisor I spoke to last night said £66 and I wanted to speak to a manager.

They have listened to the call and i was CORRECT in saying £66 all in but the best they can now do is £69

What do I do now? They have it on tape I would get it for £66

    Please Help!
You would hope they would honour this, wouldn't you? I mean recorded for training purposes.
I suggest you escalate it to a manager in the department you originally bought the package from.
