Thats not to say call them back and take it without a second thought, just a helpful warning hopefully.
Just called them back to accept the offer and a wonderful CS rep called Donna advised me not too.
They have their current offers upgraded on the 28th to include early upgrades to the new speeds if there in the area (and after checking my postcode, it is). She has booked in to call me back on Tuesday to go ahead with the offer but with the early upgrade for the 30mb and I managed to get a 1tb tivo box in too
She gave me her details and ext as I said that promised calls havent came before and the deals offered wern't on the screen when I called back in the past, so as long as it goes well on tuesday I will have the following:
L Broadband 10mb (but an early increase to 30mb so effectly the same)
XL TV (175 channels) including HD Channels Stays the same
M Telephone (Unlimited weekend Calls) Upgraded to L for free
x1 1tb Tivo Box free installation & Activaton Added
X1 V+ HD Box moved upstairs
X1 Virgin HD multi room boxes
£57.50 per month 60p higher than eailer quote, but still a saving of (£12.40 saving) (£148.00 per year)
Quite pleased with that if it comes off~ LBM - July 2012 ~
Debts: Barclays OD: £1120.00 | Barclays Loans: £1473.00 | Credit Cards:£5540.00 | Catalogues:£4800.00 | Payday Loans: £2715.00 | Family Loan: £5000.00
Total Debts July 2012 £20,648.00 :eek:0 -
Seems I'm not going to get a call from Sky. Due to end on the 24th, nothing. Phone goes to Virgin on the 27th, got a letter from Sky to tell me I'm leaving. No deals for me from Sky.0

mawey u lucky b******, i couldnt get anything off my pi** poor phone and broadband, break down
10mb connection and telephone + anytime calls + £5 discount on the £7.99 anytime package making it £3 and a £5 loyalty discount. with a bill still of £34.99 a month.
so if you take off the discounts my actual bill works out at £45.99 a month. no tv, no vivo box or whatever its called. and i've been told my broadband and telephone is £30 a month.
however sometime in march april i should be having a free upgrade to 20mb, but i doubt whether i will see any of it, due to the throttling they already do to my connection as it is.
90% of the time i get 2mb or just over 2.5mb, and when i do get 10mb it only lasts for around 20min.
Note: i phoned them yesterday.
oh and when i said about 30mb broadband they said yes i could have that but it would cost me an extra 35 on top of what i'm currently paying. considering in march/april i will be upgraded to 20mb for free anyway i'd be stupid to take that.
I asked them where the hell they got their prices from, and asked how they could offer new customers 30mb broadband and phone for £5 for the first 3 months after which is would be £18.50 a month, she replied you forgot to include the telephone line @ £13. to which i replied it includes the phoneline how else would anyone be able to make a phone call in that package. so if it doesnt then there advert is misleading, in which case i'm sure trading standards would like to now why?0 -

The very nice lady did say that she had 'managed' to get all cancellation fees waived for me (I didn't point out that there shouldn't be any), so now I wait and hold my nerve.
Just received a call from VM retentions. The chap offered to:-
TV XL - no change
Phone L - drop to M
Broadband XXL - drop to M (10mb)
Virgin phone line - no change
Sky Sports Collection - drop completely
V HD Box - HD activated - no change
V+ HD Box - no change
£96.40 - drop to £51.40 with 3 months credit on my account

c'mon you yellows
Just watch the retentions people at virgin i was going to change last year to bt wife works there they rang me at the death to offer me a good deal then proceeded to mess the bill up for the next 4 months.
They got it sorted in the end and now what turns up on the door mat a 3.50 increase from april here we go again.

The offer didn't improve my VM package, just saved loads of money. I'd prefer to improve the overall package, and save some moneyC'mon you Canaries!!0 -
I gave my notice a couple of days ago and have just had a call from retentions.
He could not reduce my package by more than a couple of quid but gave me all the spiel of me being a loyal Virgin Media customer and they did not want to lose me so I was given 3 months free for all my services (saving over 64 a month) until a new deal came along on my account. He did say I could not change any parts of my package and I would not be in any contract whatsoever and could leave at any point. He said I will just see a credit to my account monthly which will amount to what I currently pay.
I have taken his name but this seems too good to be true, has anybody else been offered similar?
I can see me having to fight for the credit to my account every month.

Interesting so VM are starting to offer deals are they?! I'll have some of that
Just looked on sky and a similar package as my VM will cost me £5 more even with the increase so it looks like I can't play off with them! You'd have thought they'd want to entice VM customers over obviously not :mad:0 -
Just tried for the half price deal having just been on a 6 month offer, only offered the usual 25% off for 12 months (on full package), declined and now have a date for switch off! Will give until this date and then go for the Foxsat box (really need the record option). From then on it's massive savings for me and of course no chance whatsoever of going back (having paid for the box).0

I assume that is for Sky Colisimo? If so then you have done exactly the right thing... they will come back begging.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0
