Back in June I managed to get a 25% reduction for 6mths. I had Entertainment, Films & Sports plus HD. This expired mid December, I've only just remembered so called Sky tonight.
I told them I was reducing my package down by cancelling Sports, films & HD unless they had any other offers.
The lady I spoke to was very helpful & put me on hold (obviously to speak to a supervisor for a better deal) for a while, but said the best they could offer was to remove the HD & offer a 20% on the full package.
We now have 6mths of Entertainment, sports & films for £42 per month, not the best but we're happy as hubby does enjoy the football & we do watch a few films a week
well done you, any deal is better than none, but supervisors can't offer anything that isn't on the system - the offer has to be there on the system to be applied, putting people on hold can be used as a tactic,0 -
I've just got my package down to £56 a month from £99 per month (although had to lose Sports and HD).
Called up to cancel sports and HD which would have took me down to £76 per month. Sales assistant didn't try to give me any offers which I was a bit peeved about - I did however, get a rep with quite a strong foreign accent and in my experience, even when they are based in a British call centre, you often do not get the best deals as while they may speak perfectly good english, some of the subtlty is lost in conversation.
However towards the end of the conversation we got cut off, so I called back to check it had all gone through and this time got a Scottish rep.
While I was talking to her, I decided to ask her to cancel movies as well as I was trying to get the price down due to being on maternity leave. I did mention that it was a shame as having the movies through Anytime + was handy while I was at home.
She initially offered me movies at half price, which would have brought the bill in at £68, but I said I really wanted to get it down to £60.
She came back with an offer of £56.25 a month for 9 months by giving me my broadband and line rental free - Sky Entertainment extra, movies and a multiroom subscription - £51.25 plus my £5 call package.
Well pleased with that and if they can't offer me another deal in September I will just cancel the movies as I will be back at work anyway.

I phoned Sky today. I originally phoned yesterday to reduce my movies but was told that I had an offer on the account which would reduce if I reduced the movies. The previous cost was £60 that was for movies, entertainment, multiroom and HD, discounted down to £52, but it seems that this was not the offer that I agreed to. So yesterday I was told that I should make a complaint by email via the website (as the offer was a lesser one than the one I had been originally offered). I received an email back today basically telling me that I had to phone because they can't do anything in the email department. So I phoned back.
I was fairly annoyed but pretty calm. The guy asked me what I wanted to happen, so I said if I wasn't getting the original discount I just wanted to cancel the HD and movie package, so he put me on hold and put me through to downgrades.
The woman there was lovely. I explained what had happened and she kept apologising for me being misinformed and passed around, she promised that she would not pass me on and she would deal with the issue.
I came away with entertainment, movies and multiroom, but no HD (my choice) for 12 months, for a discounted price of £33.87!! How chuffed am 1??Plus I am not contracted in, so I can cancel it at any time.... but who would want to for an offer like that??

Am currently on 6 months half price sky TV - entertainment, sports and movies for £24.50 a month. That offer ends in a month so called up to cancel, they let me go without any negotiation - did offer 25% discount (for 6 months I think) but I still can't afford nearly £40 a month for TV....
So my notice is in and my sky tv goes off in 31 days....
If i'm not back on a half price deal by April, i'll eat my hat..A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Well I obviously didn't sound poor enough
I have sky kids(Disney ect), movies and the other normal stuff for 41.00. The best i got was either removing the movies taking me down to 25.50 or keeping them for an extra fiver. I chose to keep them for the fiver. Probably a mistake, but i will cancel once this period in june is up.Still i was pleased i have the same package for 30.50. I also had the virgin package with XL TV (which ran on from an old offer) and my telephone and broadband. I cancelled the TV down to the basic package and they didn't even try to stop me :(The basic package makes no difference to the cost of the phone and broadband, which is why i kept it all these years from when they were telewest. I'm pleased that a few minutes on the phone has saved me 30.00 though as i really need to cut back.

I've just been offered free Tivo for a year, (via a credit on my account), and no installation/connection fees. And it's coming next week, yay!
The guy was very nice, I'm not locked into any contract for the other services (phone and BB) so I didn't ask for anything else as I got what I wanted. Thank you Virgin Media!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I'm very interested to see what is going to happen with Sky this year.
My husband is a big sports fan and 99% of his mates are sports fans too. But the word is out that Sky is not worth the money whether Sky sports or ESPN. He wants me to cancel with Sky and if the likes of my hubby wants to cancel I really wonder how Sky will get on.0 -
Is this a good deal? Currently on basic ext extra back with sky hd box (no the hd mix)
Rang earlier and manged to get
Sky+hd 1TB box for £49,
Free install
Free multiroom for 1 year,
Unfortunately had to take the hd mix at £10.25.
Do u reckon we would be able to cancel the hd mix after a couple of months as we dont even have a hd tv.
The reason we wanted the 1TB box is because of the large hard drive to record stuff.0 -

Only you can say if its a good deal for your needs, but IMHO getting HD when you don't have a HD tv is a crazy waste of money.
I have the 500GB box and have never filled it past 75% and that is recording HD channels too... you just have to keep on top of watching and deleting stuff.
And I am almost CERTAIN that you will be tied into the HD sub for the full 12 month contract.
Not sure what "Currently on basic ext extra back with sky hd box (no the hd mix)" means.... but if you already have a HD box then maybe you could just buy your own second hand 1TB box from ebay / cash converters etc... You are basically paying £172 for the new box (£10.25 * 12 + £49)
And I wired up my own second connection to add multiroom - admittedly thats just the FTA channels but we don't watch much TV in the bedroom so not too bothered.
Hope this helps.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
