  • Thanks Lois_E! It means we're on track for clearing our mortgage this financial year (mentioned above I think) and we just need to continue overpaying at current rates and we'll be there. Lois_E, where are your spending diaries please?

I've been spending more than I hoped on end of term sort of stuff (including babysitting)! :o
But at least I've managed today as very nearly NSD - just a few quid for a replacement ipod cable because the old one wasn't making contact properly. And in general, apart from end of term stuff, I'm doing quite well so far this month. But then my mortgage months run from 7th to 6th of the month, so I'm only half way through. I think Jul/Aug and Aug/Sep may be bad for petrol, too. There'll be another proper update on or soon after 6th Aug.
    Starting again 13/4/19
    Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99
    Total owed: £28,801.49

    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Nothing changed from last update - I think I'll be OP less than this month in August due to us going on holiday which sadly as expensive as "working costs" ;) However I can't wait and am looking forward to a good rest and break :)

  • Made some delicious butternut squash risotto yesterday, a gift from my family. Very nice too :) This week should be a work week, we went away for a chunk of last week. Great to recharge batteries and to soak up the sun.
Also sadly a relative in our family died (funeral in a few days) - obviously very sad, but a great chance to see the extended family - rather fortunately we all get on very well with each other.

On a geek-viewpoint, I was delighted with my Sainsburys shop yesterday, 10p off a litre of petrol - a full tank = £6 saved, then I went shopping and spent £62 which meant I got another £12 off the bill. Very pleased!

  • And am reading articles about interest rates not rising for another 18 months - until 2013...
    http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-1607881/Interest-rates-News-predictions.html

If that' the case I'll be more than happy but am aware by that time many will have been squeezed far too tight and will have financially popped :(
