And another 1k off today. 1.5k for the month, now just .5k short of my end of year target, which when set last year seemed very high, but with a strong wind and good fortune, we've been able to reach with some ease.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045
Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 20370 -
And to top it all, a change in gym routine today; More weights will be the focus. At the end of the session, my legs were wobbling, a good sign, I quite like the feeling, but it's a great break from what I normally do; Will blitz it until the end of the summer holiday and hopefully will be a slimmer jimmer by then!Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

which means with another £250 the end of year target is met!
New target is now £30k by the end of the year, which should be achievable if we manage to save at the current rate. Also by having paid off the 21.75k, we've halved our mortgage in 8 monthsFeb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

So the date to be MF is...
March 31 2012.
That gives us exactly 8 months to go. So I've said it! It's been bubbling in my head for a few weeks; I've shared the vision with MOM and she's keen to get there too. So hopefully this will be the last financial year of having a mortgage.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Wow thats fantastic om well done!! you must be well chuffed
*note to self to read back in your diary to pick up any tips*
what are your plans when MF - apart from celebrating of course??!0 -
We will be Deleted_User
I think we will simply celebrate and continue saving to be honest, but safe in the knowledge that we've insured ourselves as much as we can against house price volatility. I think a nice holiday could well be on the cards as well as slowing down a bit- we've both taken promotions in work to get up the greasy ladder, so maybe a loss of a position to get a better work/life balance may be on the cards.
I'd like to think about it nearer the time, but it's v. exciting.
In terms of tips, I don't think there are many. We both enjoy our work and put in a long shift but feel we get paid a salary that reflects that; MOM is very sensible with money, and I've cut back on areas of my life for the past few years to help tighten our belt. MOM is v. supportive of my (now our) vision and that's the key really. It would be totally pointless if one was a saver and one a waster of money. THe other secret is to have your partner to set up a DD from her account to yours every month - it keeps the mortgage going down at a very pleasant rate...Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
