I think you are missing the point.
Not really , you just both come across as people i`d rather not do business with :beer:0 -
You can indeed claim the whole original postage back on any Paypal claim. If a seller has told you otherwise, then they are telling porkies, particularly if they are a business seller where they can't deduct anything when refunding your original payment and in some cases on actual returns they have to foot return postage as well.carolineb23 wrote: »I speak as an occasional seller, but a more regular buyer. If I saw 2 items where the total price was the same, but one had higher P&P than the other, I would buy the one with the lower P&P as I expect a lot of people would do, because if there was a problem with the item I didn't think you could claim back the P&P (please correct me if I am wrong). I understand some sellers do refund this, but it's not compulsory is it? Plus it irritates me when someone will sell an item for £1 and £9 postage when it would blatantly cost £1.50ish to post, it just seems deceitful."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I just bought two items from the same seller. They were a pair being sold separately.
The items both went for their start price of £2.99 each with postage at £5.99 for each, I asked the seller if he could combine the postage and he came back with £15 for the lot, with the items being £5.98 then this makes the postage and packing £9.02.
The items arrived today and the total postage he paid was less than £5.
I marked his P&P stars down as a result, but on reflection I would have been happy to pay a £15 BIN with free postage if they had offered that, so hopefully he will learn something from the transaction.0 -
Thank god you are on the earth to dispense your wisdom mate.
Petty revenge, you're a keyboard hero.0 -

Sorry I just don't get this.......
You have admitted to being happy to pay £15 BIN with free P&P. Yet are unhappy about paying £6 plus £9 P&P & Handling?
The net result to you is the same.
The net result to ebay is a loss of 90p (10% of the £9 P&P charge). The net result to the seller is a low star rating and all the implications that go with it for agreeing to combine postage (something which he doesn't have to do - unless you checked he was prepared to do so BEFORE bidding) but not reducing it enough - even though you were happy with the overall charge?
I am with Macfly on this one....I don't think half as many people would try to put the world to rights with their keyboard warrior anonymous stealth ratings if the system was more 'transparent'0 -

Hopefully you too will have learnt something - as on reflection, you should realise that you purchased something at a price you were willing to pay - No harm done so what's the big deal?
You got something delivered to your door, as described and in a reasonable time (presumably) at a price you have confirmed you were happy to pay;)0 -

Does it matter what we say on an internet forum, if everyone on here patted each other on the back and agreed that overcharging was the right thing to do, what changes?
There are enough buyers out there who will not tolerate it, get one of them and get your stars trashed. You'd probably get a lot of sympathy on here with people saying how of course you can have your wages and your petrol paid, and those horribly expensive packing bags you use, but your stars are still trashed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
