Just bought a cooked chicken breast from the counter at Morrisons. Got it home and started to cut it up to make kids a sandwich, it didnt feel like it was cooked enough, meat was quite hard to take off the bone, when I got near the middle, there was blood in it. Just phoned up CS and they said that I have to bring it in. Doing that after I have sorted the kids out with something else for lunch. I dont know where I stand, can they just offer me a refund or can I take it further??
TIA

Report them to food standards people. They shouldn't be selling such things!0

I agree with andrewmp - go to your food standards peeps at the council. They will sort it - but I would ring them before you go back to Morrisons (just in case they need to see the chicken or something...)0

Morrisons would most likely just dispose of the chicken and give you a refund if you take it back. You should ideally be compensated for this situation because it could have ultimately made your child very sick had you not noticed in time. The food standards people will launch an investigation to ensure such event doesn't happen again
Do as the others said and speak to health and safety at the council first before returning it. If you return it then make a complaint later, Morrisons would have destroyed the evidence. We’ve had to remove your signature. I used to work on the cooked chicken counter as manager, and I can tell you for a fact that this is a common problem
I was often forced to discipline staff for not checking properly before they put the chicken out for sale, they are supposed to temp check, but rarely do. I would 100% complain to customer service, as this is something that needs dealing with before they kill someone, or at the very least make someone ill. I sent my entire dept for retraining when we managed to give an old lady food poisoning.

Think I'll ring the council, I nearly tripped on a cracked paving stone this morning, but saw it just in time to avoid an accident.
What's the going compo rate for nearly tripping?
although had the OP served the chicken to anyone they could have been ill, so she does have a point, BUT I would be happy to take it back and get my money back and leave it at that:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
Right, phoned up Trading Standards, but was automatically put through to Consumer Direct. They took all my details and said that it was in Morrisons rights just to refund my money. She said that she would pass details to TS, and they may or may not contact me. So I decided to take chicken back, CS woman examined it and said that the blood was all the way through the middle, so she sent for Manager, he came had one look and said 'sometimes we get chicken like that' so I said to him 'so would you eat that then'? He just mumbled something about a refund and then went. I told the CS woman that I thought the whole thing was disgusting, she didnt even reply, just gave me the refund. Oh I did tell them that TS had been informed. What a massive waste of time, not even a 'sorry' May have to re-think where I shop in future, especially after todays bill was £86.00. Thanks for all your replys.0
