That board game looks great Orange Fairy. I've got the same thing on my list, but would never have thought of giving a board game as a gift. Great idea.

  • Orange Fairy that is brilliant. I hope your brother gets much pleasure from it, doubly so knowing that it was made especially for him.

Yesterday I finished #96 - make a quilt for Kevin & Kelly (well for their baby anyway). I spent all evening fighting with uploading a photo onto here and eventually gave up. If you want to see it, it is on my FBook business page. (You can all "like" my page whilst you're there too ;))

That has inspired me to start #11 - make a quilt for our bed. I've had £200 worth of fabric sitting in the sewing room for 4 years for this project so it's about time I started it. I'm a bit daunted by it as it's 8ft square and my own design, but I do "make magic with fabric" or something like that! :rotfl:

Well done on your quilt Stitchy! To make a Patchwork quilt is one of my aims for this year.
A bit of advice actually Stitchy. I want to buy a sewing machine but don't want to spend too much. If I use it a lot I am happy to upgrade later. Would a rather basic machine be okay for such things as sewing together the patches of a quilt, cushion cover edges, a beanbag etc. Or should I spend a bit more and go more advanced. I have a friend who is selling a singer model and is going to get me the details of the model number. Getting a second hand one may be the best way to go to get more for my money.

    My aims for January

    No swearing for a week
    No sweets for a month
Leave an inspirational note in a book for someone to find.

    Also to add to
    Making 5 soups from scratch
    Finding 100 geocaches
    Lose a stone
Get my photo books done and printed
Do 5 nice things for people without telling them.
    Take photos everyday in 2012

I hope everyone has a fab new year!

As with most things, I would suggest you buy the best you can afford. Sale time is coming up so you may be able to get a better machine for your money. There seem to be many cheapish machines around at the moment and there are a couple of sewing threads here where others discuss various machines. This one is much shorter than the other one!

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3638305

As long as the machine does basic stitches, forward, reverse and zigzag, it would be good to start with. Buttonholes are useful too and then you get into the realms of stretch stitches (to sew Tshirt type fabric) and fancy stitches. I gave Jo my good machine a couple of years ago when I invested £1000 in my professional beastie, but if I get a studio I'll want it back to have at home. At that point I'll buy her a fairly basic machine as my good one is just sitting unloved in a cupboard :rotfl:.

I've started cutting out the patches for my massive quilt, but losing the will to live at the moment. I hadn't figured how long it would take! :o

  • I've just made a payment to my CC2 and reduced the balance by £1000 since 01.01.10 so that's #54 ticked off. Gosh I seem to be on a roll at the moment.

I've only got 269 days left of my challenge and another 67 tasks to do. Some of them are ongoing, like #49 (set monthly goals) but I really need to step up a gear to get the others done. I think it's about one every 4.5 days or so for the other things. Right, what's next???

    Happy new year everyone!:D

I posted ages ago but haven't yet come up with my full 101 things. Think I will just post the list now and add the others as I come up with them. Started on the 19th Dec and am pleased to have ticked some off already :)

I've tried to go somewhere in the middle for mine - not a 'bucket list' (which I have separately) or the list of housework I never get round too (shhh!;)) More things that will help me get ready for travelling in a couple of years time, things that will make me happier with myself and fun things as I tend to work too much and not make time for things like that. Hope that's right!:)

Well done to you all, you are powering through your lists! Love the boardgame Orangefairy and would love to see a photo of the quilt when it's done Stitchy :)

Online ones - I used to do them a few years ago and did really well so keep saying I should get back into them...

Have you used the pre-made kit yet? :)

  • Hi everyone, happy new year to you all, have been looking around the forums in general and have found some pretty good ideas and targets to join, but have not been willing to commit as I didn't think any of them were achievable for me, until now! :T

6 months until I finish university and am fully qualified so setting myself some future goals! I have started a bit of a list but think it's going to take me some time to think of 101 things so been having a look at everyones ideas. You all seem to be doing so well so i've decided to finally join something, just hoping I don't fail.

Unfortunately I can't add a link to my list as I'm a fairly new poster but currently I have 13 things on my list. :D
