Hula Groove Wedding Band - Threatened court action!

  • Yep - including me (post 21).

Also, as pointed out, they have lifted the terms and conditions from the musicians union.

I think I said they are standard terms about 40 posts ago...

Does that make them any more legitimate?

You need to read the thread properly the booking was not confirmed as they didn't pay the deposit.

Have in my years on MSE i have misunderstood that this forum is about? I thought it was about Money Saving and Consumer rights?

So what about all the other threads on MSE about companies/businesses practices dodgy practices do you want those stopped as well. If you do MSE might as well close down.

You have a choice read this and believe it, Don't read it or read it and discount it. That's the choice everyone has.

Even if you ignore the OP problem business's (which this band are) with dodgy and legally wrong Terms and conditions are pointed out all over this message board. That's what this thread is doing pointing out dodgy and unethical practice. Which is Money saving and consumer rights which is the whole point of MSE

Is it just because they are some Jolly band that you disagree with their practices being pointed out? Are we onluy allowed to complain about Huge Multinationals?

Someone who replies to and supports threads having a go at other companies then takes umbrage at one thread having a go at another business. Now what's the word ahhh yes Hypocrite that's the word.

Have you completely ignored all the posts i have made except for the last one, or have you missed my point completely.

To make it simple I THINK THE BAND ARE WRONG IN THIS SITUATION

The matter that i am referring to being unfair is that certain people repeatedly typing the same phrase in order to manipulate the SEO to make the band seem worse than they are. (although the people doing this are unaware that duplicate phrases actually has a negative effect on SEO rankings).

Might do. Industry standards are relevant to the question of reasonableness.

Further, it takes away some of the personal criticisms against this particular band.
  • I think what has been highlighted here is that they seriously need to look at their terms and conditions and use a bit of common sense.

I see from their website that they are taking bookings for 2011 which means that people are possibly booking over a year in advance. So would they use such heavy handedness (i.e demanding 75% of the full fee) if someone cancelled a year in advance. As that is what they are implying on their T&C's.

Why can't they just use some common sense instead of possibly alientating a lot of people. There's nothing like word of mouth to spread news good or bad.

Completely agree, just because they are "standard" doesn't make them right. If they had been a bit fairer in their terms (and enforcement of them) then this may have been a bit of a better thread for the band in question.

YES! But the attacking of a band over its T's and C's when probably hundreds or thousands use them cannot be fair.

Have you visited the parking forum? they do that a lot over there when it comes to PPC T&Cs.

Doing something just because a lot of other people do it does not make something right (or legal).

Just looked at the terms and conditions of the band we had at our wedding. Guess what? Same terms.

They were fantastic and probably the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet.

I think we should get back to assisting the OP rather than trying to destroy this band's business.

You miss the point. Standard terms used in the industry have more effect than 'one off'.

Parking 'fines' are a totally different situation to this.

Just because you say I miss the point doesn't make it so.

But let's agree to disagree and get back to helping the OP.
