I managed to get an Amazon one this morning. I added it to my basket ... it moved it to my saved items saying it was out of stock ... I kept moving it back to my basket and went through this process about 5 times, and eventually it worked!

I think the whole process took about 10 seconds and I saw the page about 5 seconds after it appeared ... job done. I don't know how long after that they were available for, but I suspect I wasn't the only one who was this quick.

The Wii is definitely staying under my Christmas tree (no ebay this year).

Good luck but if it was out of stock what makes you think you will get one?
It might just be a glitch and they will get in contact with you to cancel as there could be scores of people this happened to but it doesn't mean they have the stock;)

    Ok. Here's the deal.

I, like many others, selected First Class as detailed in the FAQ which I have read already. This resulted in a delivery date of 14th-15th December.

On two other dedicated gaming blogs other people were saying the same thing and someone noticed that if you changed the delivery option, and then changed it back to first class your delivery estimate changed from the 14th December to the 8th December.

Along with many of the other people I tried it, and you know what? The order wasn't cancelled, I didn't lose my place in the queue, the world didn't end. The delivery date changed from the 14th December to the 8th December.

This morning Amazon sold a set number of pre-orders equal to their allocation of Wii from Nintendo. No more, no less. There is no allocationpriority to change, no position in any queue to lose. You have one or you do not have one. It's simple.

Second time I've tried to help on this place and had it shoved in my face. I can't be doing with this crap.

The way amazon allocate stock is changed once you make an ammendemnet to an order, if you change anything then it treats it as a new order. You dont see anything change, you dont see your position in the queue and you wont see the order cancelled but thats how they do it. In this instance there shouldn't be a problem but last year with the 360, people with confirmed delivery for release day were changing order details and they were being bumped to the end of the queue instantly, with delivery estimates of after Christmas because they had just changed delivery address etc. That happened because amazon had taken too many orders for the stock they had available.

If they dont get the full allocation of the Wii they expect then it may be a problem if you keep changing order details because those changes bump you to the end of the queue. If they recieve one Wii damaged and you were the first to order but then changed delivery address you will go right to the end of the queue and it will be you that loses out because yours is the damaged one.

Its just good advice to leave the order well alone if you dont really need to change it.

And quit with the attitude, what are you 12?

I know I was one of the first ... I got an order confirmation and, fingers crossed, haven't heard anything about my order being cancelled. Either way, I suspect Amazon will have another batch in before Christmas (as will other retailers) so there is still another chance I think. Nintendo aren't having the production problems that the PS3 is having, and they seem capable of churning them out in high volume (each one makes them a profit too, which is an incentive!).

  • Woolworths appear to be taking pre orders for £179.99 for the Wii. So I imagine they have plenty of unallocated stock expected.
  • Why is noone sayng that ARGOS still do the Nintendo Wii on preorder. Is HMV or AMAZON or any other shops cheaper than Argos for preorders. Or Is Argos not reliable enough to deliver on the 8th. Just want to know the reason

I could be wrong (someone correct me if I am) but I read that Argos will charge you the cost of the item when you place the order, not when it is dispatched like everyone else. Obviously you can cancel your order and get your money back but I'd just prefer going with someone who doesn't have this policy (I prefer having the cash in my account around this time of year!).

I'm not convinced Argos have all the stock ... after all, Amazon sold out within 7 minutes, while Argos have been taking orders for a month!

Wow! Maybe Argos have more stock than I gave them credit for. I think your options for pre-order are now Woolworths, Argos, PC World, Gamestation and HMV. I think Argos and Woolworths look most likely, but the others may be worth a try.
