Fancy crutches

I wish I could do something like that with a cane I would be a lot less reluctant about accepting the need for one if I didn't feel like it was just essentially like wearing a big "I'M BLIND!" sign on my forehead when after the amount of bullying you can go through as a child you get used to putting a lot of effort into looking as 'normal' as possible. I'd much rather just hold my other half arm or hand and be with him or my Mum whenever I go anywhere.
I know part of the point is that other people can see that you're blind to help you or not run you over but I wish there was some middle ground somewhere."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
Ok googling 'pretty canes" didn't work lol. Non of the results were relevant and the first one was a bondage shop hahaha."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

As already mentioned on this thread GlamSticks will have a go at anything and if you look in the gallery there is a customised cane there.

Oh yes so there is, thank you. I have just sent her an e-mail."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
Thanks all for your help.
Love the link for 'glamsticks'.......some lovely designs there.
Not sure what paint would be best for them so maybe sticky backed plastic (blue peter style) would be better..for a start anyway.:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

My crutch is still going strong with the organza and ribbon although the roses have come off....still not decided what I am going to do with them next but I quite like the trailing ribbon effect so might do more of the same but in different colours. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Sue -you do sound like you've got an 'artistic' knack for this sort of thing.
I can only think of covering my sticks with paper and then get stuck on what to do with the rubbery handles.......? Any ideas on what would work ? They're just plain pale grey and bit boring to say the leastI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I am probably the least artistic person on the planet to be honest....but I am a cheap skate who hates spending money on something I can do myself
I leave the handles, mainly because I like to have the grip they provide...with winter and my hands being on them, few actually see the handle anyway and especially if you have a decorated crutch to take the attention away.We made it!
