I've seen some glamsticks 'in the flesh' as it were and they are pretty impressive! They certainly stand out in the crowd.0

CoolThat's really good to hear. I have promised myself some Glamsticks for when I'm more able to be out and about. I don't see the point just now cus I already have a pink pair and a purple pair from Chic Aid despite being hardly ever out of the house.

I customised a set of my crutches
I used white satin ribbon, white feather marabou and some beautiful butterfly embellishments. I love them but they aren't really the 'day to day' sort! I am planning on customising another two sets with some spray paint and stick on gems, and I am thinking of doing up my wheelchair but I don't know where to start! Any ideas?

Well it isnt difficult to customise crutches. Ive been doing mine since the 70's.
Take the crutches apart and give them a sanding down then a rub over with white spirit. Spray with primer (Halfords or any car shop). When dry, spray on a base coat of withe or whatever colour you want.
When dry mask off the area/pattern you want. I used a candy twist and use ordinary masking tape from a car shop. Verspray with another colour. When dry pull the tape off. hey presto! customisation.
You can protect them further with a quick spray of lacquer.

I haver walking sticks (as well as walking frame and wheelchair)
I'd love some prettier sticks than the nhs ones but they seem to come at a price !! Am I allowed to 'decorate' the nhs ones ?
The only other 'pretty' sticks I''ve seen have been fold up ones and I'm worries they won't be sturdy enough for me. I need two.:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

@Mary-op
This is a good site for guides on the different kinds of sticks out there http://www.clearwellmobility.co.uk/product_listing.aspx?PageID=62 it says that the average max user weight for a folding stick is 16 stone.0 -

Yes you can do what you like with them (well at least in hampshire you can) I was told Once issued, walking sticks and crutches would be too expensive if taken back as they would need to be refurbished and tested, so they dont bother.
Paint them !! Bling them up !!The DWP = Legally kicking the Disabled when they are down.0 -
My mum once tried to spray paint my NHS ones using primer and car paint but it all chipped off rather quickly so I used to customise them by wrapping them in gift paper and putting sticky backed plastic on the top. Then I got too sick for that but never mind. I have a pink pair and a purple pair that I bought and they are fantastic0

Problem is most crutches are aluminium so you have to use an Etch Primer that bites into the aluminium.The DWP = Legally kicking the Disabled when they are down.0
