Verdict so far - carrot cake is yummy yummy
raisin scones are nice but very very dry, cheese scones are yummy but again dry. (I'm guessing scones are a dry food? Never had one before lol. Not sure the kids will like them because of the dryness).
Bread made, onion tart went hideously wrong - put onions in food processor but in 5 secs it had turned them too mush. Then cooked them but they went to soupy onion mush and looked horrendous and wouldn't caramalise so I binned then and going to attempt again with more onions later.
What am I to do with the marrowfat peas? They've been cooked but aren't to be used till friday. Also what's the best way to store the remaining tomato puree and chickpeas (I used tinned as I have like 8 tins in the cupboard lol).

hello
Been a long time, didn't realise time had flown so quick!! LIFE got in the way, hopefully I've got a bit more spare time now, so will chip in every so often
On a side note - I've just had my CRB disclosure come back (CLEAN! of course!) for volunteering with Age Concern, so will be paired up with a local garden owner soon, and should be sharing the garden to grow veggies etc ASAP...YAY! :T
Pretty blooming skint at the mo, trying to scrape pennies together to pay bills, debts, I still don't have an oven...and Xmas is just round the corner...
ANYWAY. I shall go and have a read of the new menu plan now...0 -
Hi,
I am sorry I keep disappearing. A variety of reasons, no power, no internet, no time!!
But back I hope for a few days:)
I quite fancy trying the onion fritters. My mob love the onion tart and are making more and more vegan calzone, so things going well here.
For the onion fritters I think I would grate in the food processor or it could end up being very uncomfortable for the eyes.
snowedunder I put the peas in the freezer in bags ready to use for other recipes e.g. pea risotto.
Tomato puree will keep in the fridge if sealed, and the chick peas I would bag up and freeze too. HTHbusiness mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

.
I am like you with the bills too. I found 30 Euros which I had to have changed into £s and emptied a piggy bank to pay a bill today.
Have you tried Freegle for an oven? We survived for months with a barbecue, slow cooker and microwave so I understand how hard it is.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Snowedunder, scones can go really dry if cooked for too long, which might account for your experience - have you a fan oven ? You need to adjust the cooking times for one of those - that is, whip them out before the recipe says. Tell the kiddos they are biscuits, then the texture will make more sense
And next time you cook them, whip them outta the oven sooner.
Poohbear has covered the rest of the questions (good to see you about btw Poohbear), but I just wanted to add that most cooked foods will keep in the fridge for four days or thereabouts, so if peas are used on Friday, no need to freeze them, just stick them in the fridge.
And welcome back, RainbowDon't want to pounce on your straightaway and scare you off, but are you still up to compiling a list of useful books for CFR ? If not, that's fine and don't worry, if yes, that's grand and take your time

Thank you
Really really don't like the savoury bitesQuite shocked as they sounded yum, but I didn't like the smell of the mix, or them cooking, and definitely not now they're done.. which is a shame! They don't look hugely like the picture, but the instructions were so clear I can't see how I could have made them wrong! Oh well, never mind.

Oh wow, that looks amazing!
So what is the budget for Christmas week because it must be way lower than most people spend but I am guessing higher than normal CFR. I am excited to try out some of the recipes, are there any that need testing? (not onion soup please!)God is good, all the time
Do something that scares you every day

Particularly really need help with the sausagey potato salad
because i had it last night and it aint no salad :rotfl:
The shopping list for that week (you get to it if you click the trolley) is £23.66
tho you will need to have salt, pepper and mixed spice.
So that's 84.5p per person per day
Snowed I'm really sorry you didn't like the savoury bitesI do hope someone in the family likes them, if not my DH will take them off your hands, he loves them!
