I have some asafoetida that I bought about five years ago for a specific recipe and never used since. Still stinks as pungently as ever, though, which is why I haven't chucked it out - I figure it's got to still have some kick to it if it still smells like that !

Okay, so I've had a look at what ingredients of Kitty's look like they'll need using up sooner rather than later, and going from there, the three evening recipes I'd better go for next week are saag aloo, red pepper pasta and winter squash risotto. Not 100% sure which nights I'll do them - have to see what DD and I might be up to once she comes back from her grandparents - but it's likely to be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday again.

So, who's in for next week ?

I'm in for at least one of these. Probably the red pepper pasta as that's the only one I haven't already tried (assuming that winter squash risotto is the same as BNS risotto).
Your bean curry looks lovely Allegra. I've been putting off trying that one, but you might have made me change my mind. The new pin board is lovely too :)

She nicked it from work, then gave it a false number plate :p

I can do the saag aloo (eek! lots of potatoes!) and the risotto. I've just added the missing ingredients to the shopping order that's being delivered tomorrow. As far as I know, I can cook them any evening that suits the rest of you. I can't eat red peppers, sadly, so the pasta dish is off the menu for us.

By the way, the "creamed coconut" in the risotto is the solid block sort, isn't it? Not the tinned "cream of coconut"?

!!!!!!'s right, of course. Well, sort of. I rescued an old one from a skip at work, then re-covered it using an old tablecloth and free fabric samples I've been collecting for a while.

I believe so, but sadly, I have not been able to get that anywhere locally, which means I'm gonna have to improvise with the tinned cream of coconut, which is the nearest thing to it I've been able to buy :)

Hornetgirl, the winter squash risotto is the vegan version of the BNS risotto.

    GAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tescos are so annoying. My home delivery came today and the two things mr arty especially wanted for the picnic tomorrow (sausage rolls and crisps) they didnt have and my surprise for you all didn't come either. I had ordered champagne so we could all toast weezl and CFR but although they bought it it still had the massive security tags on so they had to take it back. GAR STOOOPIID TESCO.
