Potty, the Crimbo nutroast for you to test (and of course, anyone else who fancies having a go, all testers, as always, welcome):

This is a Christmas standalone recipe for vegetarians, and as such not part of the Christmas week shopping list and planner - just a veggie alternative :)

Everyone very busy and a li'l bit stressy today, so please forgive us if we're not 100% on the ball and there as soon as you need us, but all the things we promised to do for last few days are all on the to-do list and getting slowly ticked off ! :)

Look forward to trying this when I get some cranberries. Are the cashews roasted and salted or plain unroasted?

    Thanks

  • Evening all,
Well I never got round to doing any bread making today feeling abit blarrrr. Took the kids to school, then had to go back to school to collect DD for the orthodontist, drive 20 mins into town, park the car, walk miles to dental practice, sat round for ages for her to be seen then drive back home.

Tonights meal was spaghetti carbonara made from leftover onion soup, left over cream, some bacon and half a tub of cream cheese that needed using up. It didnt look very nice as the sauce split but tasted alright and everyone ate it.

I will deffo be making 2 loaves of bread tomorrow and more chocolate brownies, can anyone tell me how many grams of sugar we are now using please?

Going to jump in the bath and try to warm myself up, cold here today but I refuse to turn the heating on until middle of October at the earliest lol

approx 280-300 so a whole can should be fine with perhaps just a little reduction of oil :)

ETA can you try 275g please LIT?

In the absense of any of the sensible people ;), I think 275g was mentioned for the brownies...
This is the amount I was going to try at the weekend ... so if its a good amount for you, I will deffo go with that :D

Now... this I do know a little about, as I use dried...
They approximately double in size once soaked and cooked ... so, 140g dried, will equate to 280g tinned...
I believe that once a 400g(or possibly 410g) tin is drained, you roughly get 270g ish... give or take 10g ish.

I do hope this helps LIT :o

    lol

    thank you x

Will try 275g of sugar in the brownies tomorrow

Looks like i will be having a busy day in the kitchen tomorrow and have planned to make bread, houmous and brownies and I quite fancy lunchtime pate so will pop to butchers in the morning once kids have gone to school, mine wont be quite as smooth I dont think as I dont have a food processor I only have a stick blender but coarse should be lovely too (and will go lovely with the tortilla chips)

Off to bed now, good night all x

    YAY :)

Poohbear! wow thanks for all that amazing feedback. What a good point about the mushroom soup (blush) I will add that now.

The lower feedback about the cochons, what do you think that was about? can I improve them?

Thank you weezl, you are welcome.I think maybe the cochons could be in the oven longer and I would have enjoyed them more with a bit of seasoning. DD was in charge of the coooking of them so I wil ask her if she stuck exactly to the recipe.I will try them again next time I do a roast. I have to admit my DB didn't even try his.

lunchtime pate made and is very very yummy, but as expected my stick blended couldnt cope with it very well so it is quite coarse with afew lumps of liver but its lovely all the same. I only needed 100ml of vegetable oil, I think if I added any more it would of been too slack.

I dont think I will have time today to make bread will leave that for tomorrow but I will be making brownies today.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day, weather is pants here.

    Pate pic is HERE
