You saying about xmas crackers I was actually thinking of making my own this year but dont know how to get the 'bang' plus need to make hats lol

Hi Pammy, I made up my own crackers in the past - just bought a kit that has everything you need except for the gift. I was whizzing past an Oxfam charity shop the other day and noticed they had make your own cracker kits for sale - I assume they'd have them nationwide, but didn't clock what the price is....

ETA, just seen them online here http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/ethical-collection-craft-and-design/HN257079

quite expensive as it looks like there are only 3 in the box but it doesn't say anything about the number you get. You could ask over on the celebrations thread if anyone has found a cheaper kit

    Thanks for Crackers ideas!
SH- hobbycraft is a nightmare as far as moneysaving goes!

Another snow day here but have spent day frantically emailing pupils work so they don't get behind! Now I need to start preparing work for tomorrow. No trains or buses here, car is pretty well buried and I don't think I can get it out. Due to keep snowing into the night. Even if school is open I can't imagine I'll get in and I'm sure lots of pupils can't!

Maybe tomorrow I can get back to some decluttering!

Just been up to collect my medicine from chemist.

another one stuck in the snow!
sounds like a lot of us are reading books about decluttering at the moment- which one is yours? (the irony that I am thinking of buying something else so that I can de-clutter! :rotfl:)
I think the OHs deserve some treats for enduring frugality the rest of the time - but gotta ask does the toaster do anything else cool or literally just make toast?? My OH wasnt best pleased when I replaced our kettle with a cheapy one the other day ( needed replacing) as it doesnt go with the rest of the kitchen now...so may get a posher one at some point! :rotfl:

I think it is The Joy of Less- a guide to minimalist living. I actually got it as an ebook to save on clutter! I'm doing my best not to declutter books! I always laugh at myself when I buy a money saving or decluttering book! Maybe the library will have some? I keep meaning to try borrowing an ebook from the library.

The toaster pretty much makes toast- 4 slots and includes 2 cage things for making toasted sandwiches. Good drawer thing at bottom to clear out crumbs. We're trying to think about how long things will probably last as well as price. I' not keen on buying lots of cheap stuff that ends up in landfill in no time. Trying not to buy things I don't need or won't use much. Personally wouldn't have bought a new toaster but if it is a treat for OH I'm happy.

Another bin bag of stuff for charity shop- at the moment my brain is decluttering madly and my body can't keep up! Too many ideas to follow through on. Guess I ought to make a list but at the moment I want to use the momentum!

Decluttering in the bedroom at the moment. Have done quite a lot before but each time I whittle away more.

Two ideas from the book I am focusing on here! The first is working to limits. Having decided what I want where I now need to get rid of some stuff so it fits in these limits. Then it will be one in, one out rule.

I am also going through ornaments, candles, vases and other things on display. I have already chucked anything not beautiful or sentimental. However, until now I've then felt the need to display it all. Although not completely cluttered it means the surfaces are difficult to dust etc. I'm going to go through them all and again decide on a limit to the number of things to display. The rest can go into storage in a box at the top of the wardrobe (which requires cutting down the number of books on that shelf! Then when I feel the urge to buy another beautiful vase or something I will instead rotate my display items with some in the box. Again one in one out if I buy anything new!

Am trying to get towards a more capsule wardrobe. This will take a while! Am assessing what I wear and what I don't. If I don't wear them why. This is actually showing up some gaps where I need to keep my eye out in the charity shop. I've also realised I rarely wear my beautiful long skirts so I'm going to try and adjust them to a length I am more likely to wear!
