I'll let you know when I get a quote how much it is!

Have just used my sewing machine for the first time! Have zigzagged all the way round the edges of my tunic to discourage fraying. Looks ok but wasn't too worried as none of it will be visible. Next the tough bit- got to do the seems. Need to tack it all first so it may take me a while!

I hope I get good at this. Hopefully I can cut down money spent on clothes- particularly if I can upcycle.

    Thanks saving and dansmum!
Have put the tunic on hold as I want to do the hems with twin ballpoint need
Es and I haven't managed to buy them yet. Have started a skirt- overlocked all the edges and done a stretch stitch on the seams. Looks like it might be a bit big so I guess I'm going to have to get my head round pattern alterations etc.
First day back at work was manic! Pay slip arrived though so I can do my monthly update now. Bit scared to as we've probably gone backwards! Since we are offsetting I guess I'd better get used to this. We're saving for wedding etc so as we have to pay stuff out it will look like we are going backwards. Just need to keep looking at the big picture. At least we're not getting into debt paying for things!

Loving the sound of hte sewing machine - I have some material there pinned and ready to sew for my ds. It's one of those cube style pouffe things - he bought a new one after we'd decorated a few weeks ago but I offered to take a pattern from his old one to re-stuff for him, he decided to have it as an extra to fill an empty corner of the room. I started off well the night he brought it round and there it has sat since - I have so many unfinished projects and had to stop myself buying material.............. Mmmmm just wondering if the school up the road is running night classes in sewing - makes me get things done and they usually start September....on that thought goes off to inveatigate.

Saving- we have the details of the cleaner who does next door. Apparently she does quite a few in this road. Now have to find time to follow it up.

Milann I might well pester you for tips! The classes sound good. I did one over 10 years ago and it was great! I'm relying on books and the Internet this time as the evening classes are too far away round here. Am on the look out for any sort of local craft club or sewing group though!

OH found me a twin stretch needle today and I successfully used it to sew the casing for my skirt waist elastic. I then spent hours trying to get the elastic in! I gave up and am going to get some decent sewing ping tomorrow so I can do it! I only had a tiny sewing pin and it really wasn't working!
