Oh Jelly, snap OH's hand off if he offering to pay for a cleaner. My neighbour used to do for us when I first went from part-time to full-time work and it was fab. I used to love coming home the day she had been in to a lovely shiny clean house, but alas she is retired now and once more I am the cleaner.

hi jellie - I have used agencies and neighbours as cleaners. I was naughty with my last one and got her from an agency paid them for a couple of years and then suggested I paid her directly. She has stayed - she is incredibly loyal. She had to sign for the key and the agency vetted them for a bit.

I stayed the first couple of times she cleaned as was reluctant to give her a key - but then did and haven't looked back...

I'd love a cleaner but think I'd be cleaning before she came - which might just defeat the object, I too would be unsure about someone being in my house but love the idea of coming home and having it all done.

I'm thinking of going for a cleaner. We had one years ago and it made such a difference - We also sometimes do eating out and take aways instead of cleaning and cooking! I figure I would cook more with a cleaner. I just need to get the house clean enough to start having a cleaner :D

I struggle now when my cleaner doesn't come... definitely an institution! She is close to retirement age so I do have to face the reality that she won't be able to keep coming forever! Shame!

This is a little sparkly squeaky clean can of worms!

Katsu I'd be the same I'd be embarrassed to have a cleaner in its current state!!

Saving Holmes you'll have to bribe her to stay on!! Belgian buns, etc :D

I'm wobbling along thanks Saving. Still mulling over the cleaner issue.
Feeling a bit down as I seem to be spending a lot again. It was expected as we have things to sort out in new house and wanted to treat ourselves a bit over the hols. I just feel a bit worried that if we don't rein in the Mfw dream won't happen.
Am also feeling stressed about going back to work. Even more important to try and get MF as OH says when we do I'll be able to go part time!
Have been reading up on sewing and have bought a machine. Haven't sewed in years so first efforts might be disastrous! I'm starting with a tunic and skirt. No zips but the material is stretchy which could be fun.
Had better do monthly update of finances soon!

Glad to see you back Jellie xx

Me too still mulling - I'll probably go for it when I've settled in as self amployed again as I'll have a bit of a payrise. How much do cleaners charge? I was reckoning on £20-£25 p/w only need a couple of hours as DansTowers is only tiddly just need bedroom/bathroom/landing/stairs/kitchen/living room done I could do it justice in 2 hours..... :(
