  • Rang noth Currys and Dixons and they dont seem to know wot im talking about.

Nothing showing online either - does anybody have the SKU number for it so it can be checked instore for stock

    Thanks

    its 441027
  • Looks like discontinued stock - when prices end with the number 7 or .97, it usually indicates product going out of production/discontinued.

This is the secret code in all DSG retail stores (pcworld, dixons, currys etc).

Very hard to find, but not impossible - staff usually buy it up or hide it in the warehouse for themselves.

    happy hunting

Phoned up the main call centre to find out there was 1 in stock in hedge end southamoton. When i phoned to reserve it was told it was a faulty one waiting to go back. And there was another store with 2 which were also faulty. So worth phoning to see if there are any in your area.
    Thanks to OP

And none in stock in the southampton dixons either..If you don't try you don't get...wishful thinking LOL

For 'faulty one waiting to go back' read 'there's no ****ing chance you're having them at that price mate, we're keeping those for ourselves!'

My knowledge if plasma is perfectly fine thank you. Every maunual for a plasma screen I've ever seen even makes a note that the brightness of the screen will degrade and this is because of how plasma works (they utilize phosphors which are very unstable and prone to degradation at 50%).

to quote "Plasma manufacturers claim 30000 to 35000 hours [longevity]." Which at 10hours a day is approx the same lenght of time that a RP screen would need new bulbs. The difference is a bulb is quite innexpensive compared to replacing the whole plasma.
There's a serious problem with your maths here.

The life of the bulb in this Sony is 6,000-10,000 hours even according to the Sony manual but users have found bulb life as low as 500 hours & reality the bulb life for this type of set technology is 3,000 to 5,000 hours. Those times are also complete failure not halflife. That's nowhere near the 30,000 to 35,000 hours halflife figure for a plasma screen.

Additionally, the cost of around £400 per bulb is far from what I would call inexpensive...

  • I have just got off the phone from both Currys and Dixons who both state that the item is discontinued.
The reason it is still showing on there website is for after sales info.

    None in stock nationwide:mad:
