I also disagree that PC World would never ask for an independent report; their in-store technical staff don't repair monitors, thus they wouldn't open one up to assess a fault or potential damage which is what is required to show an inherent fault. You can't just say that it failed within 6 years, that's less than a reasonable person would expect it to last and since there's no obvious physical damage that means the fault is 'inherent'; thus, a consumer has a free 6 year warranty for all cases on any goods - it's a bit more complicated than that!

Good and fair query to ask. Don't think that you will get a response from sirmarcus, because, if you look at his last posting in this thread (which is above your posting), he advises that he won't be reading or contributing anymore to postings in this thread. I'm presuming that he is fed up with the tone of some of the responses, which is a shame as I would jave been interested in his response to your posting. Lets hope that I am wrong in my assumption.:cool:

I am not sure how pointing out that the OP received goodwill rather than a victory under SOGA is a reflection on my abilities as an accountant though!!

It doesn't make sense to me but then again I'm used to using logic.
