I was saying on another forum i'm afraid to replace stuff in case it breaks :rotfl: My cooker in particular is the same age as me and still going strong and in excellent condition. Washing machine is 9 years old etc etc.

More to the point, in my suspicious mind, is that when the salespeople are insistent in pushing the extended warranty (or anything else for that matter), it is not because they want to do ME a favour.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

If they had been stubborn in the slightest, you would have had to fork out for a independent report...............which you ultimately would have been responsible for seeing as the monitor wasnt faulty.
While its definitely a good result, it wasnt through SOGA that you got it imo and more rather through luck. What they did was actually over and above your rights.
Disagree. Sirmarcus knows his stuff as illustrated at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2632825.
He has used the SOGA to get results from PCWorld and other retailers. I do not see the logic of your argument with regards PCWorld not being stubborn. He used the SOGA to get a result from PCWorld without, as far as I can tell, too much effort on his part and he deserves congrats for doing this rather than postings like yours.:mad:0 -

Postings like mine what? That point out that it wasnt through his knowledge of SOGA but rather PC worlds LACK of knowledge of it and/or their goodwill?......they fufilled more than they are obligated to under SOGA. Therefore the result he achieved was due to their goodwill. If they had followed SOGA and requested he provide a report detailing the nature of the fault, he would not only be without a refund but also be out of pocket for the report. If you cant see the logic in that then i'm unsure how i can simplify it further.
Everyones entitled to an opinion. I was not abusive in my posts and even said it was a good result............so who pushed you out of the wrong side of bed?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Don't understand your argument or point ? How can you replace stuff until it has boken ?0 -

Are you stupid ? As I stated before, he has used the SOGA to get very good results for himself ftom PCWorld and other retailers. I don't understand the logic of your argument or debate and would wish that you don't contribute further to this thread as you are not adding any value. He has got a result from PCWorld via the SOGA and deserves credit for doing this.:mad:0 -

I was merely saying that due to the age of some of the items (like my cooker and washing machine) i wanted to upgrade them. But after having such a lucky streak with nothing major breaking.........i'm convinced if i do, the new one will break - especially after reading the threads on here about the horror stories.
It was in reply to you saying about extended warranties and hmmmm not sure if "backing up" what you were saying about them being a waste is the right term but something along those lines
Basically i was agreeing that extended warranties are useless and using my own personal examples as sort of "evidence" why they can be useless - even without SOGA.
They have us in such a state we worry "what if?" all the time about everything. No wonder half the country is medicated. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

As opposed to you who has resorted to insults because YOU cannot understand something i wrote in plain and simple english?
Yes clearly you are contributing the high moral ground and "good" character?
Just because you dont understand someones viewpoint doesnt make them wrong or stupid. Nor do you have the right to tell me where i can and cannot post as long as i am doing so under forum etiquette.
I posted to clarify lest some newb think that this IS their legal entitlement under SOGA and try and insist upon it only to get laughed out of the store. Yes the OP got a good result - good on him - but lets not pretend it wasnt heavily reliant on luck and pc worlds response rather than him enforcing his rights to the letter. You keep using that word. No, what the OP got was lucky, nothing more, nothing less.0
