Well, I was thinking sausage and mash after reading about Miss P's tea last night
I need to get to grips today with a shopping list, minimum spends, maximum meals, I've run out of money already and only got paid Friday plus we're going on holiday in 2 weeks, I need to fill the car with petrol to get us there (thankfully it's half board!), plus me and kids need haircuts next week  oh and I need to get the kids swim wear as their stuff from last year is too small.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Welcome to day 3 of the challenge. There is a glorious blue sky here and I am feeling very positive even if I did succumb last night.
About 10 days ago I had a phone call from doctor's surgery asking me to make an appointment to discuss ECG results taken 8 weeks previously. Worried me like hell, I could think of little else but I eventually saw doc. yesterday pm.
Conversation went something like this:
Doc '' good afternoon Mr Randomname what can I do for you?''
Me ''Well I had strange phone call asking me to see you to discuss ECG done 8 weeks ago.''
Doc ''really! (starts scrabbling with keyboard) ah yes I've got the result looks OK to me.''
Me ''But Iv'e been really worried why did you call me in?''
Doc ''Let me look again--ah there is a subtle suggestion that there might be slight indication that there may be a small chance of a tiny blah blah blah.
I'd switched off by then but challenged him again asking why I had been put through 10 days torment. No real answer but he offered me an appointment with a cardiologist just to put my mind at rest. (what a waste of NHS resources)
Anyway I accepted it just to make certain but I left the surgery feeling so elated I could hardly belive it.
By now it was 4.30pm, my danger time, so I dropped into the offie on my way home.
Sorry to bore you all but I feel so good today and am confident it will be AF. Will confirm tomorrow.Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

random, NHS resources, don't get me started...three letters one to each of us (two under 16's) seperate envelopes, stating exactly the same extremely unimportant thing, with enclosed leaflets...just pathetic.
Rant over, have a good day all.DC.

Morning all!
Randomname - what a relief on the results..but as you, say 10 days of worrying for you and a waste of NHS resources sending you to cardiologist. HOWEVER, if the Cardiologist puts your mind at rest then thats money well spent in my view.(just on the waste of nhs resources etc and further to DC's post...my Mum had 3 letters in one day too, all from the same department..one making an appt, the next cancelling it and the next reinstating it! All sent first class of course!!)
Budgie - I wouldn't worry too much about your DS keeping schtum about his friend. My Mum found out my brother had moved in with my future SIL 2 weeks after he'd done it...and at that point we'd never met her, let alone knew she existed! Boys!:rotfl:
Marru - hope filing all sorted. I think you were very brave to work in Battersea. I'm such a drip that I would have ended up bringing all the dogs home!
Anyway....late start today. me and Piglet slept in till gone 8!:eek:Have to be up early tomorrow to go to the Zoo so had better set an alarm tonight methinks!

I've just printed off 7 recipes, I'm now going to go on MySupermarket.com and see how much 7 meals will cost meDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

Okay, well I've got 6 (not 7) recipes.... (lots of pasta but keeps the cost down
)
Spanish Omlette
Pasta Carbonara
Chilli
Pasta Alfredo
Cottage Pie
Pasta Amatriciana
I have put all the ingredients into MySupermarket and Tescos comes out the cheapest for me, I haven't included chilli powder, garam masala, oil or instant oats (for the cottage pie) as I already have it in the cupboard.
Costings for 5 of us for 6 days is:
Drum roll please.....
£19.35 in total
£3.23 per day for 5 portions
65p per person per day
:T
I'm sure someone will come along and do it cheaper but this is the girl that spent a little over 20 quid on one meal last night (and that was just for 3 of us as the small'ies had hot dogs and then it turned out that the bigger child had tuna pasta left from lunch....so 20 quid for the two of us then *rolleyes*.....was nice though) So basically that meal last night, I could've fed all five of us for 6 days with 65p change

I'm the same Jo....will splash out on something, then get a side dish, then a pudding.....all adds up and makes a massive dent in my budget. Was just looking at the cottage pie pecipe. Going to give that a go as OH loves cottage pie.

Tea tonight for me is quorn basic curry with an old unopened jar of basics curry sauce and some bottom of the fridge veg chucked on to make a very english chip shop style curry with rice
At least it uses up the quorn pieces out of the freezer and the other bits and bobs
DC - freezer surprise was just that, a meal in a container and I couldn't tell what it was so was a nice surprise yesterday that it wasn't lentil based and was for spag bol instead!
Having said that I love lentil dahl and its very cheap to make along with HM chapatis and some rice and mango chutney and think I'll make some of this once the freezer empties out a bit more
