My long walk on the beach became a short walk on the beach! Lovely drive to Bamburgh, sun shining, music playing... got to my friends house, had a quick natter and then headed out, after about 200 yards the heavens opened and cleared the beach instantly. We battled on for a short while but then turned round. JUSTas we got back to her house the rain stopped :rotfl::rotfl: but by that time we were both wet through and covered in sand. Dog was happy!!

So we sat and drank coffee and ate chocolate cake - see, told you I don't belong here. :o

It's good to read of such positive things happening in your lives though and even the less positive events are usually compensated along the way.

Slight change of plans for the coming week - away for 4 days with work and then heading straight to Glasgow for a sunny weekend with my mother. That way I don't have to drive on Friday, can work from her place and help her at the same time. :j

Now need to pack for a week away

Morning all..........................((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

It was sunny this morning when we got up, clouded over now. We are off to the Sunday market to get more of the rolls and then to the garden centre, I need to get stump killer for the snowberry stubs, they need to come out.

Pork for supper with roasties and veg from the garden.

I weighed myself this morning 12st 12 or 13st 7 depending on where I put tyhe scales on the floor, think I am going to have to use the boot room floor, its fairly level. Not just at the moment though, need to get the roller blind on the window otherwise I will have a audience of the farm workers....LOL....

Now I have a plea.......last year I loaned a book about the history of the Amish to someone who posts on the board, please can you let me have it back, I think a year is long enough to read a book. It is part of a collection and I cannot afford to buy another copy. PM me and I will send you my address to return it. Thank you.

    Hi Csarina,
It wasnt me who you lent the book to but I had a visit to an Amish farm and met an amish midwife when I was doing my midwifery training in Tennessee. Im totally enthralled by their lifestyle as it kinda fits with my philosophies around childbirth. I also used to look after a lot of Plymouth Brethen around here and there are some similarities. Anyway my most prized possession is my little quilt that I brought directly from the farm - its beautiful. I have an essay I wrote on my experience if you would be interested? I could email it to you x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Afternoon all,

Had a good holiday in west Cork, weather was warm a bit misty some mornings but managed to get out fishing with DS3 and brother who arrived down on Wednesday night, he is there for another week. Was extremely pleased with rental house, very comfortable and complete with dishwasher, washing machine and drier...if anyone is going to the Cork area and is thinking of self catering pm me and I will give you details. Had nice lunch in Cork city yesterday on way home with DS1 and DDIL...they were 10 years married last month so was my treat.

Have done two washes to-day, need to do more to-morrow as DDIL, DD2 and my 3 granddaughters are arriving for the week so will not get much done while they are here. Also need to do some vacuuming and dusting around house as its looking a little dull at present.

Ham with homegrown cabbage and potatoes for dinner with some rhubarb fool to follow...will have to wash out outside freezer as rhubarb needs to be picked now and frozen for winter, there are lots of French beans coming on and apples and blackberries, so will need to put freezer to work.

Read all the dailies for while I was away before going to bed last night....forgot everything of course but at least remember that there were no major disasters for anyone, sad to see that Diva, PenPin and others missing in action are still not back, wish everyone well.

Happy Lughnasa Lame Wolf....our DS1 is named Lugh after the Irish pagan god and the Gaelic name for the month is Lughnasa...as its pronounced 'Loo' the poor lad was the butt of many a joke at school but he was happy to have such an unusual name!

Dull here but no cold yet, garden is in a mess after our absence but a few days will get it back into some kind of shape I hope.

JackieG....you are exhausting me with all that decorating, would you slow down for pity's sake!

Good to be home, talk tomorrow

Hugs to all in need or want

I am finished decorating for now. I am exhausted. The hall isn't done yet, my back is protesting like mad, but we had a good sort through of everyone's clothes and my boys were excellent and very willing help, and we have three black bags for the charity shop. I was ruthless :rotfl:

My room looks lovely, just need a curtain pole and a new blind - think I have some nice fabric somewhere which will do the job, I got lovely faux silk curtains last week for £10, and my new mirror will go up when OH gets back. I may start painting the hall when the boys go to bed, so there's no chance of bumping. He also needs to put the pole up behind the front door for me. Poor man will run a mile. :rotfl: My table is lying on the kitchen floor awaiting assembly, and dinner is in the oven. Just Quorn burger things with Pasta and veg, quick and easy. Which we'll be eating on our knees. No doubt my RA will flare up next week after all this! But my house will look nice whilst I am sitting on my bum :D Night all, have a good one! X

ETA meant to say well done to v8monkeyboy's OH on the promotion.

Evening all, hope your weekends have been enjoyable, mine's been great. Took myself off to London after work on Friday and met up with a friend from where I used to live who had come to visit. She had booked us a hotel so we went there first to freshen up and it turned out to be absolutely lovely, would definitely stay there again. However, she'd booked it online and got a cheaper rate, when we saw their usual rates while checking in we nearly choked!

So we embarked on a lovely girly weekend and catch up. Went on the Eye, out for a wander round Covent Garden and Leicester Square and dinner, few drinks in Soho. Also accidentally stumbled upon Pineapple dance studio, the home of Louie Spence! Both got all excited about that. Then Saturday we went for brunch, a look around Camden market (*sob* So many beautiful things! I cannot possess them all! *sob*) and while there got a spontaneous fish pedicure, then to Harrods for a look about there and a posh wee, then went and gawped at the Queen's house. Stopped off for a drink and snack I saw her off and came home.

Today, I am strangely tired this afternoon when all I've done is go and get my groceries, wash and dry my bedlinen and make the bed back up, and bake a banana cake and a load of cookies. Some of the cookies are in the freezer just to keep their freshest as I plan to take them in to work for us all as Friday treat, as well as half the cake to keep. The rest is wrapped up but left out for me to scoff. I may allow Boyfriend to have some, think I'm seeing him next weekend and we're planning a trip to the Science Museum so might pop an extra bit in my packed lunch as a wee surprise for him. If he's good :D.

I am even more tired now just looking at what JackieG's been up to!

Hi all, finished at Coast today. Got lovely gifts and cards and they are all so kind. Made a delicious risotto for tea there and off to London tomorrow to stay with my gay best friend. Can't wait. Are any of you London based? It's raining again and not that hot here but what about there? Need to know what to pack.

Got loads to do before I go. House is a tip as I haven't been in much this week. Have a budget for London and it's quite tight so taking my mag i get on subscription and my own lunch and water on the train.

Happy Bday Essex Boy, Congrats on being DF Tappers and hugs to all XXX
